Public Works Minutes 1994 05-31-94 4 UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE COMMITTEE MINUTES-PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE ATTENDEES Date of Meeting: 5/31/94 Elected Officials Art Prochaska Location: City Hall Pat Clark Jim Stafford Publicly Announced: Yes Others Time Convened: 6:05 P.M. J.T. Johnson Time Adjourned: 7:13 P.M. SUMMER HELP: 14 applicants. J.T. has chosen two;Michael Rigoni and Erik Shutes,with a starting date of 6/6/94 and an ending date at the end of August. Part-time help was budgeted. J.T. will have salary information at the committee of the whole meeting on June 2. Ron Morris has reapplied for summer help and Joe Moore would like to hire him to paint the fire hydrants and pump house. J.T. will check with the library to see if an agreement can be worked out to allow Ron to paint the library. There is $2,000.00 in the Water Operations Fund(540 Contractual Services). SOD WORK: J.T. informed the committee that there were written commitments for sod for Gilbert property north and Loftus property south(approximately 1200 yards total). Prices were: Fox Valley Landscaping-$2.10 a yard installed; Twin Oaks- $Z50.ia a yard installed; STS - $2.40 a yard installed. Need to contact Gilbert and Loftus to make arrangements for watering. J.T. recommended Fox Valley Landscaping and he will have recommendations for watering at the June 2 C.O.W. meeting. CONCRETE PROJECTS: Quotes were received from Altman for $3.25 a square foot,Behrens, $3.25 a square foot and McNelis at $3.50 a square foot for sidewalk replacement. Per hour rates for other concrete work: McNelis-$30.00 per hour per man, Altman-$34.00 per hour labor, $38.00 per hour for finisher;Behrens-$28.00 per hour per man. J.T. requested using Behrens' Brothers for his concrete projects this summer and will inform committee of projects. ROUTE 47 BRIDGE SIDEWALK: J.T. will check about mud jacking sidewalks at Route 47 bridge. SOMONAUK PROJECT: Need 16 squares of sidewalk to complete Somonauk project. J.T. will check to see if NET funds are still available. J.T. will bring costs of projects as they come in. ADOPT-A-HIGHWAY: J.T. began filling out the Adopt-a-Highway forms. City will need to train adopters and supply red vests. At the next city council meeting an announcement needs to be made about the project and request any interested parties contact city offices. J.T. will ask IDOT how much highway they recommend adopting at the start of the project and he will get costs of the signs. UTILITY TAX ORDINANCE: Need to check utility tax ordinance to see how city tax is to be charged. COUNTRYSIDE STREETLIGHTS: 12 lights to be installed at intersections. J.T. will check to see how many of the poles match and will bring that information back to committee. There is $15,000.00 in the budget for this project. LIGGETT'S POND: Mr. Liggett will meed with Mr. Lindley on 6/2/94 at 1:00 P.M. regarding Lindley's report. SOMONAUK PARKWAY: Somonauk Parkway is scheduled for completion by the end of next week. PUBLIC WORKS COMMITTEE MEETING SCHEDULE: The public works committee has decided to meet the first and third Mondays of the month. If a meeting happens to fall immediately before a regular council meeting,the committee would like the rest of the council approval to bring items directly to Council meeting for passage. TRACK CROSSING: Repairs moved to June I 1 to 13th. BRISTOL STREET/WALNUT STREET: Have not heard from IDOT regarding closure of these streets at Route 47.
