Public Works Minutes 1993 08-02-1993 DATE OF MEETING: August 2, 1993 ATTENDEES: LOCATION: City Hall Pat Clark Art Prochaska OTHERS: Don Peck Cecelia Sanders Identa Austin Tony Graff State agreement received for detention pond on the south side of town for$15,000.00. Bid opening for detention pond will be held at 10:00 a.m. on August 3, 1993. Work on Emerson house to begin Wednesday, August 4, 1993. Letter was received requesting inspection for the 1989 sewer and siphon project. This was inspected on 7/27/93. Received letter stating it is ok to use Game Farm property for any public use. Don sent letter to Silver Dollar Restaurant about trench overflow. Need to replace storm and sanitary sewer lines between Elizabeth and Blaine Streets. Sanitary sewer can be done with sewer maintenance fund. Sanitary sewer about $6,000.00. The storm sewer is not budgeted. Don will investigate funding. Addendum on Cannonball Trail water and sewer extension was sent out 8/2/93. Purpose- Cost savings. Well house-curbing for all four sides was done in concrete for a total labor cost of $1,015.00. Original plan was$925.00 for one side only. A suggestion had been made to have Don find out the price of doing the other three sides in asphalt. As doing all four sides was only was only$90.00 more than original estimate for one side, a decision was made to go ahead and do the four sides. Cecelia Sanders and Identa Austin asked the committee what their plans for the Game Farm House were. They requested that the Senior Services be kept informed and in mind as plans were developed for the municipal building as they are very happy with their offices located in the house. A request was also made to consider relocating the stop signs at Center Parkway and Hillcrest. Mr. Cozihar had a concern about Commonwealth Edison locating their power lines in front of his house on East Fox. All current power lines are in back(North) of his property). Don informed the committee that the power lines will be run behind Cozihaes and Fleckinger's house to the property at the dead end of Fox Street. House on comer of Orange and NO Street(207 Orange)has a sewer problem that is theirs, not the city's. Don will send letter to owner. Don is working on Van Emmon design. White Oak developers are putting ejector pumps and sewer fines in street. Don received pipenet program on 8/2/93. Received specs on paints from Dean Fisher. Don will call Harding and Lawson Associates to find out who does testing of emissions. Don would like to hire Leo Scott at $25.00 per hour for motor grading of all gravel shoulders in city. This is a budgeted item. Approximate cost is$400.00. On 8/2/93, work was begun on the library landscaping. Bids for north water and sewer will be opened at 10.00 a.m. on 8/5/93. Pavia and Marting can give us presentation on road signage possibly on 8/19/93. Discussed acquisition of the Yorkville-Bristol Sanitary District property along Blackberry Creek. (Jaycee's Park). Public Works Committee members will attend the next Y.B.S.D. Meeting to ask for consideration. Water leak on Mill and Van Emmon(SE Comer)will be worked on on 8/3/93. Burt Callmer's bills was discussed. Need the Mayor's input as he did inspect. dirt hill at Park and Freemont has been moved. Need Warrent study for stop signs at Park and Freemont. The streets on the north side of town will begin soon. Tony Graff informed the committee that the school had asked if we had considered moving the cross-walk from Washington Street to Orange Street. The request must be sent the Richard Krase at the Education Service Region Office on Fox Road. The dirt pile next to Leisure Street(by the installed street light)was left to settle. Stop Light-Don met with IDOT to get their design criteria for stop light at Somonauk. He is waiting for Knight Engineering. Jackson Street sewer-will run one line from manhole and cap. St. Pat sidewalk-Don contacted J.J. Murphy-sidewalk still to be put on property line. Water lines behind stores may cost less than$1,000.00. Don will get written agreements. The dirt at Archer's on Spring Street will be replaced,but the gravel needs to be removed. Don assigned the sidewalk list to J.T. The grass will be cut at 601 Heustis and the trailer will be removed. Primus will change their sidewalk to put in handicap curb cuts in by end of next week. Discussed and went over priority list.
