Public Works Minutes 1993 07-19-1993 UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE COMMITTEE MINUTES-PUBLIC WORKS DATE OF MEETING: July 19,1993 ATTENDEES LOCATION: City Hall ELECTED OFFICIALS: PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED: Yes Art Prochaska Pat Clark Bill Baird Ken Kittoe Bob Johnson Burt Callmer TIME CONVENED: 6:00 P.M. OTHERS: TIME ADJOURNED:7:20 P.M. Don Peck DISCUSSION: A presentation for mosquito control was presented by Clarke Environment Mosquito Management,Inc. They have done survey on the both sides of town and a control plan was shared with the committee. Bristol Township currently sprays,but not within the City limits. Pat Clark will check with Randy Mohr regarding the tax Yorkville residents within Bristol Township pay for mosquito control. Burt Callmer presented the committee with a bill and ask for consideration of payment for a 4"clay tile in the back of his house that he had installed. Mayor Kittoe will look at this Wednesday evening. A question was asked regarding the cost for installing the old fashioned street lights downtown. Don Peck informed the committee it will be approximately $1,000.00 per light. The new Weed Ordinance will be available at the July 22 council meeting. The need for a lot maintenance ordinance was discussed. Don informed the committee that a temporary stop light will be installed at Somonauk Street before the beginning of school. The road project started July 19. Somonauk Street plan looks good. This will be advertised in the paper on July 29. The sidewalk situation at St. Pat's Parish was discussed. The city agreed to pay and an estimate was received for$7,200.00. Don will call St. Pat's and have them tear out a portion of their parking lot so the sidewalk will go straight and they will be responsible for tearing that out. Concrete work downtown,curbing only. The Behren's Brother cost will be$925.00 for labor only. The concrete repair work on the sidewalk on the concrete wall downtown. The Behren's Brothers cost will be$900.00 for labor only. The estimate for curbing around the well house was$1,600.00. A suggestions was made to only put concrete curbing on the south side and install a blacktop roll on the other three sides. Don will get estimates. The estimate to put in piping and fill in the Orange Street ditch was$6,000.00. City employees will be used to do the work. This is scheduled for the week of the 26-30th of July. The Park Board was looking in to the cost of putting in black dirt at the park in Prairie Park. Don said he will have black dirt from the streets that he could put in the park. Art Prochaska will call the Park Board and let them know. Jeff Baker will be the Insurance liaison, The Public Works Committee has requested J.T.Johnson attend some of the Public Works Committee meetings. J.T.said he would attend,but would need to be compensated with time off of overtime. Delene Drew will report what J.T.'s overtime rate is.
