Public Works Minutes 1993 06-21-1993 UNITED CITY OF THE VILLAGE OF YORKVILLE COMMITTEE MINUTES-PUBLIC WORKS DATE OF MEETING: June 21,1993 ATTENDEES LOCATION: City Hall ELECTED OFFICIALS: PUBLICLY ANNOUNCED: Yes Art Prochaska Pat Clark Bill Baird TIME CONVENED: 6:00 p.m. TIME ADJOURNED: 7:15 p.m. OTHERS: Don Peck DISCUSSION: Procedure for delinquent water billings was discussed in regards to notification of landlords. A complaint was received by Alderman Prochaska from a tenant in regards to his landlord being informed that his payment for his water bill was late. Don Peck informed the committee that the landlord is informed as the landlord is ultimately responsible for the payment. Don Peck suggested installing a Yield sign at the corner of Ridge and Main as opposed to a stop sign,as a yield sign can be installed without a traffic survey. Don has was informed of a basement where water is infiltrating and found the storm sewer is above the basement level. Don has investigated the situation and found no apparent problem that the city can correct. Don informed the committee that "unofficially" no grant is available for the extension of the sewer/water for the City of Yorkville. The hydraulic pump on the street sweeper needs to be replaced at a cost of approximately$1,900.00. Don recommended getting this fixed and there is money in the budget for repairs. The state bid for trucks will be available in July/August. Don is going to see if the city can get one or two trucks. Don presented the committee with additional paving information which would take care of all 5's and Ts except for State Street and south Main Street from Hydraulic to Fox. Don is not recommended these two streets,$110.00 a foot for repairing. These repairs would have to be done in conjunction with storm sewer work. Don will be going out for bid on the additional 12,600 feet of road. Bill Baird informed the committee of a 50/50 grant due July 1 for more money for the park. Development of Blackberry Creek was discussed. Don felt that development along the creek would be more realistic than along the river. There was a question regarding Land Cash. The trees around the monument are dying. Don suggested replacing them with yews. The American Legion may donate money to help pay for the replacement. We will be discussing a traffic study at future meetings.
