ZONING BOARD OF APPEALS

ZBA 95-1 Petition for Variance - Section 10-12-2G Signs with
Separate Supports. Petitioner is requesting additional signage of
a 3 ft x 8 ft. reader board. The petitioner is Mike Boytor of BRM
Partnership (Baskin Robbins, Dunkin Donuts) and the sign is located
at 1604 N. Bridge St.
Chairman Pro-Tem Mike Skinner called the meeting to order at 7 :00
PM. He is chairing the meeting in place of Martin Behrens who is
ill .
Roll was called and present were Curt Medin, Ken Mandle, Mike
Skinner and Bob Wenman. Not present were Martin Behrens, Larry
Beach and Don Altman. A quorum was established. Also present was
Bill Dettmer, Building Inspector for the City of Yorkville.
Chairman Skinner read the petition for variance. Bob Wenman made
a motion to go into public hearing, seconded by Mike Skinner.
Roll: Medin-Aye, Mandle-Aye, Skinner-Aye, Wenman-Aye. Motion
carried.
The petitioner was not present. Building Inspector Bill Dettmer
stated that on August 8, 1994 an application was submitted for the
sign and on September 7, 1994 he issued a permit for the top part
of the sign only, as the request was for over 100 square feet of
the allowable signage.
Bob Wenman made a motion to go out of public hearing and seconded
by Ken Mandle. Roll: Medin-Aye, Mandle-Aye, Skinner-Aye, Wenman-
Aye. Motion carried.
During the discussion, the members present felt signs in the area
were similar and there would not be vision problems for traffic.
Bob Wenman made a motion to approve the variance request and
recommend that the City Council approve the variance. Seconded by
Ken Mandle. Roll : Medin-Aye, Mandle-Aye, Skinner-Aye, Wenman-Aye.
Motion carried.
Mike Skinner read the letter from Harold Schlessler and stated this
was taken into consideration as part of our judgment, but felt that
sign is conforming to signs on adjacent properties. Bob Wenman
noted that Mr. Schlessler was not present, is not an adjoining
property owner and not a resident of the City of Yorkville.
Curt Medin made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Bob Wenman.
Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 7 : 15 PM.
