July 24, 1997
CALL TO ORDER:
The meeting was called to order at 7:15 p.m.
ROLL CALL:
Steve Bridge,John Bradstreet, Julie Bromann- Staff-Sue Swithin,
Absent-Dave Schmelzle, Dave Dockstader, Scott Sleezer,Larry Kot.
GUESTS:None
APPROVAL OF MINUTES:
Steve B. motioned to approve the July 8, 1997 minutes. -John S. seconded. Motion passed.
APPROVAL OF BILLS:
Julie motioned to approve the bills as presented -Steve seconded-John-yes,Julie-yes, Steve-yes.
Motion passed.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Discussion took place about the roof problem at Beecher. On Friday,the 18th of July,the wind blow
off some of the schingles. Sue reported that she is working with the insurance company,J.T. and Jim.
Sue reported that programs are average to low in attendance. Tennis and T-ball had very good
attendance. Sue explained that if a flyer or catalog is to go out two months in advance she will need
more help. Steve ask Sue to report back with a schedule of hours and duties.
Sue asked the Park Board where the money should come from for the School's Annual Payment.
Steve motioned to pay the School $5,000.00 from a new line item - changing the current Rec. equipment
line item: 70801 0070 to $11,470.00. The current rental-buildings 70565 0070 will be $2,750. Julie
seconded-John-yes, Julie-yes, Steve-yes. Motion passed.
The Board asked Sue to received receipts from the School Dist. for repairs or purchases, allowing the
Board to apply land cash at the end of the year.
Sue asked for 10 tables for the Perkins room- 50 chairs - l table rack- 1 chair rack-not to exceed
$2,600.00. Line item- 99510-0060 Steve motioned to purchase items as listed-John seconded
Julie B-yes,John B-yes, Steve B.yes -Dave D. yes. Motion passed. (Dave Dockstader entered the
meeting at 8:30 p.m.).
Steve motioned not to exceed$1,000.00 for G. Castleton Design to create a concept plan for Beecher
Community Park- line item 70801-0070. Dave D. seconded-John-yes, Steve-yes,Julie-yes Dave
D.-yes. motion passed.
VENDORS IN PARKS
Sue showed the Board a sample of an contract used for vendors in the parks, discussion about bids for
vendors took place. The vendor would bid a percent of sales to Parks &Recreation Dept. A max. of 2
vendors per park would be a guideline, due to safety and health reasons. Sue is to find out if the city is
receiving sales tax from the vendor in the park now.
Discussion about custodial salary at Beecher and the hours occurred. At this time no extra time or
money is available, but would be considered in the future.
Board officers will be decided at the next meeting.
