Park Board Minutes 1995 05-10-95 PARK BOARD MEETING � MAY 10, 1995 Meeting called to order by Steve Bridge at 7: 10 Members Present: Steve Bridge, Cindy Davidson, Dave Dockstader, Dave Sclimelzle, Sue Swithin. From Rec. Dept. Becky Johnson. Representing the City: Scott Sleezer, and Jim Nanniga. Alderman: Art Prochaska. The Beecher Playground Equipment is going to be ordered. The color scheme is Red slides and tops, White Post, Blue railings, Black Steps and decks. There is no storage cost at J.H. Morris. They hope to have the playground done by July 4th. Scott wanted to know how much money lie can spend for parks before lie has to get and authorazation from Park Board. It was decided $1000. 00. This was to do flowers and landscaping in town at the square, library, Beecher, Prairie Park, Damn and the corner of Rt. 47 & 34. Steve made the motion, Dave Dockstader seconed, Cindy Davidson opposesd. 4 yes votes 1 opposed . Scott also presented to Board that lie needed two string trimmers for the park. He had gotten two estimates on the brand that lie liked. It was from $221 to $280. Steve Bridge made a motion that Scott may purchase two trimmers with money coming from maintance equipment fund, not to exceed $600. Cindy D. Seconded all voted yes. Scott talked about fertilizing the fields for dandelions doing two application, once in the spring and once in the fall . Steve motioned to spray fields not to exceed $3500. Dave D. seconded. 4 yes votes 1 obstained (Dave Sclimelzle) Scott presented new Beecher Building Rules and renting rates to the Board.. It leas to be presented to City Council. Scott is also to see if there is a written agreement with the school on using the building. If. not there should be one. Scott presented a proposal from Jack' s Floor Care in Montgomery on stripping and waxing the floors plus buffing. Yearly Cost $4550.00. Service Master wanted over $5000.00. Scott is also to get outside bids on maintance of Beecher Building. There was discussion on what it would cost to have alcohol served not sold for banquets. There would have to be someone to manage it . Dave D. has concerns about allowing alcohol in Beecher. Scott presented paper on Parks dedicated to Park Board from Fox Hill P.U.D. , Country Hills Subd. , Green Briar P.U.D. , and Blackberry North Subd. The Board recieved $7, 926. 00 landcash from Blackberry North. There was dicussion of doing a booth for July pith selling T-shirts to earn some money. Scott talked to Dan Kramer and said it was ok to do it. Steven' s in Countryside is doing up a design for the shirts. Steve wants a Platt of each Park in each subdivision. Jim said that the Board could get one. On the Buy-a-tree donation there will be a flat cement plaque or 4x6 Brass one placed at the tree to show who donated it . There was discussion on the YMCA' S use of the basketball court by the Lions Pool. The Y is doing a 3 on 3 there from 5 - 8 p.m. Do they have the right to not let kids play there when they are doing their program since it is City property. Becky or Art is to ask Bob Johnson. There was a discussion on the park for Blackberry North Subd. Steve wanted the size of the playground like Prairie Park. Scott and Dave D. would like to see some oler things go in at some parks in the future, such as more basketball courts, baseball and soccer. It would depend on the size of the community what would go in. Al Goss would like a port-a-let to go in at VanEmmons ball field for boys baseball for 1 month. Sue Swithin made the motion, Cindy seconded. 3 yes votes 1 opposed. There was talk on a computer for the Rec. Dept . but some were not happy on the price and set tip, so they are checking what it would cost for set .: up to the City and about a less expensive printer. Becky presented Bills to the Board.
