Park Board Minutes 1994 03-09-94 PARK BOARD MEETING
MARCH 9, 1994
Meeting called to order by Pres. Steve Bridge.
Board Members Present : Steve Bridge, Dave Dockstader, Cindy
Davidson, Dave Scllmelzle. From City Council : Art Prochaska.
From Rec. Dept . : Ann Scholl and Becky Johnson. Guest: was Michael
Cap from Development Resour.ses .
Mr. Cap showed the Park Board the map of the new subdivision
going in on Rt 34 and Eldamain Rd . , and pointed out the two
parks that are going in there. There is a large on and a smaller.
one. He feels the Park Board should do the larger one first
for family use.. There was talk of playground equipment, a softball
diamond, and in the winter a place for sledding and ice skating
on the creek that runs along the property. Also they would like
to see some nice landscaping. There will be basins for overflow
of water.. Also the subdivison will have a bike or walk path
that goes through it . For the smaller park they thought basketball
court and tennis court more of a sport area, but over in that
area will be stores and commercial buildings so the Board would
like to talk to Chief Tony Graff for safety reasons.
Dave Dockstader was wondering about parking along the larger
park. So they suggest to talk to Don Peck to find out about
parking procedures. Art P. was going to follow up on that issue.
Mr. Cap is going to call the Burks Playground Equipment place
and talk to a person about the equip. for the park and come
back to the next meeting to dicuss it .
Dave Dockstader said lie talked to Attorney Dan Kramer about
going outside our area with our programs and lie said it was
okay. But the Board would like to get Mr. . Kramer and a Insurance
Rep. to come to one of our meetings to verify it with the Board
and Steve would like to see something in writing.
The Steps for Aerobics came in and the ladies were pleased.
There was the question about police attending the teen dances
at Beecher and how they should be paid. They have to wait until
the Budget is made..
The discussion about where the City Golf. Outing should be held.
Prestbury or Blackberry Oaks because of the price. The Board
agreed on Blackberry Oaks because of location and felt that
the price was okay.
Ann asked Art . P. if lie could go to the City Council and see
who would be able to be at the start of the golf outing and
greet the people and represent Yorkville.
Steve told Ann to send a letter to the City Office and the Police
Dept . that lunch will be sold at cost $8 and please notify Ann
or Becky.
'There is going to be a bigger dumpster put at the Beecher Building.
There was some discussion whether to put in a recycle bin but
was afraid it would be abused and there would be a mess outside
of Beecher.
There was talk about field 5 being fixed up.
Motion to accept old minutes by Steve B. seconded by Dave S.
agreed by all .
Ann presented new prices for the port-a-lets from TCD. How many
we would want .
1 at Circle Center
1 at Dam
2 at Beecher one being Handicapp Accessible
1 at Bristol Also one at the park for the July 4the events
White Sox sent some information on a training camp for kids,
and wanted to know if the Rec. Dept. wanted to sponsor it . The
Board Said no.
Steve talked to Sue Schnitz from Youth Softball about Concession
and if we are giving money for the maintance of the fields.
The Board is not giving any money for the fields. Steve suggested
that Youth Softball invest in a Hot Dog wagon and then they
could use it for other events and raise some money for the program.
Ann asked Dave D. about ladies softball because the Rec. Dept.
is getting calls everyday on it. Ann or Becky is to refer them
to Dave D.
Don Peck gave the Board a sheet with City plans for the different
parks for landscaping.
Ann presented the bills and a sheet of activites that the Rec.
Dept . had from Jan. 10 - tsar. 4
Questions about Ref. ' s fees are under the wrong checking acct .
on bills list .
Ann presented a Bill that was put on bill list . It was for Purchase
of Aerobics Steps that was okayed at last meeting. It was for
15 boxes for $989. 25
Steve motioned to pay bills Dave S. seconded, carried by all.
Art P. asked if the Park Board was interested in selling the
Ball Park lot on Van Emmon. The Board will find out what the
property is worth. Discussion about where money would go.
Art P. also wanted feed back from the Park Board where they could
make some cuts on their budget and take info back to City Council.
Ann and Becky are to be Salary Employees was discussion among Board
memgers.
