Minutes of the City of Yorkville Park Board regular meeting.
Board members present: Steve Bridge, Dave Dockstader, Dave Schmemzle
and Cindy Davidson. Absent: Mary Kay Price.
Others present: Aldermen Art Prochaska and Pat Clark, and Recreation
Department Director, Ann Scholl.
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 pm by President Bridge.
Dave Schmelzle will be staying on the Board. Attny, Kramer will
draw up a resolution allowing non-residents of Yorkville to serve
on the Park Board. Mr. Schmelzle also indicated that he would
be willing to serve out his term.
Steve reported that the basketball courts at the Lions Club Swim Club
park have been striped.
He also said that April Morganegg, Pres . of the Sports Boosters told him
that no work would be done this year on the planned consession stand
at the Beecher Ball field location.
Dave Dockstader said that he had talked with the managers of the new
Blackberry Golf Course in Bristol and that they would like to host the
City Golf outing next year. Prices should be comparable.
Steve said the baseball fields at Beecher still need work - especially
the bare spots . Dave. D. says the weeds are taking-over as well.
However, this problem will have to be taken care of after the season
is over with this year. The benches are now up around the diamonds.
Ann turned in two bids for the home run fenceing around Field 5.
Strait Fencing - $2 ,883 . 00 and Fox Valley Fencing at $3,1613 . 00
Both will supply 9 ga. wire. , 560 ft. of fence, 15/8" top rail,
2" line posts, 2�" end posts and all posts in concrete.
A motion was made to accept the bid from Strait Fencing for $2, 883.00
2 nd. and adopted. Steve, Dave D. D.&ve S. and Cindy voting aye.
Dave D. has talked with the Kiwanas and they thought they could
donate a piece of playground equipment every year.
Bob McNelis from Bob 's Dirt, Inc. will be sending a bid in before the

next meeting for baseball mix for the diamonds ; 15 loads of clay - $450. 00
and 2 semi-loads of sand for $300.00, and $700. 00 labor to mix them equalling
$1 , 140. 00. Also a bid for reseeding of the old infields (bare spots )
for approximately $1 ,000. 00
Punt , Pass & Kick Contest for girls and boys 8 to 13 yrs. will be ( tentatively )
SEpt. 4 , 1993 in conjuction with "HomeTown Days" .
A motion was made to accept the minutes of the June meeting, 2nd. and adopted.
Bills were presented for payment.

There was a discussion about the Prairie Lands park and what to put there
for its best use. Before anything can be done it has to be graded out , it ' s
quite lumpy. Then a seeding could follow. A small area for playground
equipment and a softball diamond were suggested.
Anne-cwas directed to:fet two bids for grading and seeding of the Prairie Lands
park.
Get a bid on playground equipment and installation of it, not to exceed
$15 , 000. 00
Get a bid for a swing set and installation of it not to exceed $1 , 500.00
The Park Board needs to come up with a master plan for the City parks so that
they don' t duplicate efforts and waste time doing things out of logical order.
A motion was made to adjourn, 2nd. and adopted.
The meeting was adjourned at 9: 00 pm.
The next regualar meeting of the Park Board will be Aug. 10, 1993 at 7: 00pm.
