Park Board Minutes 1990 03-12-90 PARK BOARD MEETING - MARCH 12 , 1990
Meeting called to order by Cindy Davidson - later transfered to
Ares . Steve Bridge.
Members present : Dave Dockstader , Cindy Davidson, Dave Schmelzle,
Steve Bridge, Mary K. Price. Guests : Tom Wagner , Boys Baseball ,
Bob Corwin, ACEP, Bob Williams, Jr . High Football. Stormy Gray
and Ann Scholl from the Recreation Dept . Gary Bown Council Rep.
was absent .
Minutes were distributed.
Tom Wagner asked about the fencing on the Pony League diamond.
Bob Williams is to look into a new product used for fencing. Tom
says all diamonds need sand. Last year J .T. from the city got
this on each field. Dave Dockstader will check with Fran to see
if this is possible for the present season.
Bob Corwin reported on a school to train coaches, American
Coaches Effectiveness Program. This training may soon be
mandatory. There is a training session planned in Yorkville, May
18 ( 7-8 : 30 ) , May 19 (8 :00-4 : 30 ) the cost is $35 .00 .
Bob Williams talked about a Jr High football program he would
like to see started next fall . 80 boys would participate, a
learning experience not a competive sport . He showed pictures of
equipment needed, cost would be $125 . 10 per team member . The
board approved this project - limit to school district , providing
the present insurance covers such activities. Bob was asked to
come back with rough draft of rules governing this activity.
Look for sponsors after the insurance is OK'd.
Rena Pederson, representing CHIPS asking for permission to post
their literature in Beecher . We can not give this as we do not
have charge of Beecher .
Ron Thorson, representing the Luthern Brotherhood of Insurance,
told us they would give and plant trees or shrubs value of $300 .
This was accepted, next month we will decide what and where we
would like these planted.
Ann Engelhart , Esther Riley , Mary K. Price met with Stormy and
Ann to discuss what playground equipment we should try to add
this summer . Moving the usable materials from Shoestring is
first . Children' s swings , slides and suitable ground cover are
our immediate concerns.
There was considerable discussion about salaries for the
Recreation employees . It was felt the board does not understand
how much fhey do. Stormy is to go to the March 22 Village Board
• meeting and explain the duties of the Director or Assistant .

After viewing and discussing vending machine brochures, Steve
moved we sign contract with Twin Oaks Vending seconded and
carried.
Panosonic copying machine seems to provide what the girls need,
its repair contract is better than others . We should be able to
purchase this .
Bob Schmelzle is going to contact school about used typewriters
that may be for sale.
Additional telephone for office was discussed. It is needed- no
decision was made.
Ann or Stormy will contact Cheryl Gardner about providing a Hot
Dog wagon at every game.
