Park Board Minutes 1990 04-02-90 P YORKVILL PARK BOARD April 2, 1990 t Meeting was called to order by Pres. Steve Bridge, Minutes of previous meeting were distributed. Members present: Steve Bridge, Dave Dockstader, Dave Schmelzle, Cindy Davidson, Mary K. Price and Board Rep. Gary Bown. Also present were J.T. Johnson, City Public Works and Stormy Gray and Ann Scholl, Recreation Dept. Dave Schmelzle reported that Seedless Ash and Seedless Honey Locus were available trees and ones he recommended. He would also like to see weed and feed used around the building. Dave Schmelzle moved we purchase $250.00 Gift Certificate from Pulfers, Second and carried. This allow more time to deceide on placement and still makes purchase before end of month. Cindy Davidson to contact the Luthern Group interested in Landscaping in the area. Trees suggested: Ash and replacement of pontentilla a corners of lot. Dave Schmelzle reported that a bid of $50.00 might purchase school typewriter. Some machines need repair. Steve Bridge will check with Supt. Broncato ask about donation of a machine. Purchase of copy machine was tabled until next month. The vending macnine should be installed this month: It will dispense juice and pop. We receive 10% of sales. Ann reported Cheryl Gardner will be at games with food. `t Gary Bown reported the city would allow No Parking Signs at the ball diamond on VanEmmon J.T. Johnson, public works had many questions about what is expected of City to prepare and maintain ball fields and playground. There is a need for ground and clay. We have a gift of one load from McNelis. Matlock boys will make benches as a Scout project. At present we need them at ball diamonds. Steve will draw up plans. Steve Bridge made motion we allow $800.00 for 3 sets of bases and 2 Home plates. Second and carried. SlDrmy reported on footgall insurance. None is available for the Jr. High Program. Bob Williams may be able to work something out through individuals. Metal Boxes for each field is to be worked out. Maybe Boys baseball can help get these repaired. Johnson Welding has the boxes at present. Dave Schmelze tells us the school will care for fields as long as they re using them. Then the City will have the responsibility. Steve asked Dave Dockstader to make out a schedule for maintance of Diamonds. Stormy reported Greg Hornbeckel will schedule the girls softball. She also announced a pitching Softball clinic. Mike White and Ron Strukel will be doing this, on April 24, 9:00 a.m.-11:30 a.m. We will purchae 2 $25.00 gift certificate from Hayden's 2. Ann reported Becky Johnson will accept the Assistant Directors position. She will be paid $5.00 an hour for 20 hrs a week training through month of April. Gary asked that no checks be written for instruction before the end of class. & a running account be kept. The following bills were approved by a yes vote from all present.-Sheet attached.
