GENERAL
YORKVILLE LION' S SWIM CLUB
Lion ' s Club has preliminary construction estimate of $142,000 to
make repairs to the swimming pool . By trimming some items that
are not necessary right at this time, and by utilizing volunteer
help, they believe the costs can be reduced to somewhere near the
$100,000 mark . If City of Yorkville makes contribution to the
repair, then Yorkville residents would be allowed a discount on
the cost of a pool membership. (Example: $100 family membership
would cost YL)rkville residents only $90. ) Lion' s Club is
requesting $10,000/yr. for 5 years. Additional benefits to the
City are as follows:
1 . Rec. Dept. would be allowed to hold swimming instruction
classes at different times during morning hours.
2. Tennis court would be opened to public after repairs
3. A green area would be set aside by the Lion' s Club for the
purpose of installing playground equipment. The City
intends to install the equipment and have the area open
for use by the general public.
Mr. Pfister pointed out that the City of Yorkville is the only
one being asked for money when many people outside the corporate
limits enjoy the benefits of the pool .
A recommendation by committe to lease the swimming pool from the
Lion ' s Club for an annual fee of $10,000 for 5 years will be
brought before City Council on September 13, 1990.

TORNADO - COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE
Yorkville Police Department assisted Plainfield Police after
tornado struck . In addition , Yorkville Public Works Department
assisted Oswego for 2 days in removing fallen trees.
BUILDING AND ZONING
Attorney Tom Grant presented petition for rezoning the Helen-Jo
Clarage parcel on River Rd . to R-3 to allow a 3-unit condominium
complex or apartments. Four variations are being requested
including required lot width, front yard setback , parking in the
front yard setback , and installation of a fence around the entire
parcel . Considerable discussion followed on the variances,
condition of adjacent property , fence adjacent to YBSD, etc.
Committee recommended bringing the R-3 PUD proposal to the next
City Council meeting .
Robert E. Lee addressed the committee after his request for M-1
zoning was denied at the last council meeting . The parcel in
question , which is west of Rte. 47 on the south side of
Yorkville, is surrounded on 3 sides by agricultural zoning and on
the forth side by business zoning . Mr. Lee felt that
manufacturing zoning would be appropriate in these circumstances.
Mayor Davidson pointed out that the Comprehensive Plan does show
some light industrial zoning west of Rte. 47 in this area. He
also stated that it would be appropriate to have a wide berth
along all the state highways zoned for business or manufacturing,
as this would help supplement our tax base and help prevent tax
increases for our residents. Mr. Jahp expressed concern about
storm water runoff . Mr. Lee assured him that runoff would
actually be reduced in the developed condition . This zoning
request may be brought up at the next council meeting by a member
who voted no on the original request.
WATER
Three quotes were received to supply materials for the Jackson
Stret Water Main Extension . The low quote came from Water
Products Company of Aurora at $9865.65. Committee recommended
purchasing materials from Water Products.
