For the purpose of this improvement the Curb line of the streets in which 'sewers are to be constructed as herein provided shall be taken to be lines running parallel with and on either side of the center line of said streets and fifteen ftet distant from said center line. All of the sewer pipe used in the construction of said sewers shall be sound and well burned throughout their entire thickness, impervious to moisture.with smooth, well glazed exterior and interior surface, free dtrom cracks, blisters, fire checks and all other IMerfeetione similar in the bore, of true form throughout their Bength, of the exact specified dia►xeter and vu iform standard thickness. All of said pipe shall be Socket pipes and shall be each sit,stantially two and one-half feet in length: All Joints in the pipes used in the oamstruetion of said sewers s2u 11 be caulked with oakW t and filled and laid in Portland cement mortar so as to make all such 30ints perfeotly water tight. The pipes shall be so laid in.the trench that after the several sewers are completed, * the interior surface thereof shall oonform accurately to the grades and elevations fixed and prescribed herein, The manholes herein provided for shall be cylindrical in shape with an internal diameter of four feet, except at the top, at which point they shall be tw feet in,. diameter. The change of dim ter in said manholes shall be by drawing in the upper or top two feet of the same. The walls shall -be five inches thick and constructed of concrete of the ccmposition hereinafter stated` The invert and bottom curves of all manholes .shall' be of like concrete, five inches in thick- ness and neatly built and so formed as to facilitate the entrance and outflow of sewage over them Single lengths of vitrified pipe twelve inches in diameter shall be built into all manholes to provide for future extensions. Bach manhole shall be provided with a east iron ring and cover, weighing not less than four hundred pounds and shall be stepped with steps twelve inches long made of w 6 Five-eights inch round iron from a point within two feet to the top, such steps to be twelve inches apadt. The combination manhole and flush tanks shall be con- strueted of concrete of the composition hereinafter specified. That portion of the combination manhole and flush tanks which serves the office and purpose of a- manhole proper shall be con- struoted in all respects similar to the other manholes herein provided for, and adjacent to such manhole shall be constructed the flush tank, cylindrical in form, the bottom of whic4h' shall be at the same elevation as the bottom of the manhole and the walls thereof, including the foundation, shall be built of concrete, six inches in thickness. The diameter of eaef said flush tanks Shall be Your feet, and the depth thereof shall be four feet six inches. The flush tank chamber shall be provided with a cast iron syphon and connected with the Village water mains at a depth below the surface of the ground adjacent to the same of four feet with a three-fourths inch galvanized pipe, with a lead goose neck at the grater main connections. The construction of such flush tank shall be such that access thereto shall be had through the top of the manhole. Connection between the flush tank and the manhole shall be made by means of- a six inch cast iron pipe in the shape of an inverted "U laid in a bed of concrete +at such depth that the point of dia- charge into the manhole will be at the sane elepvation as the bottom of the manhole. The intake shall be at an elevation in the flush tank of three feet above the bottom thereof. the flow of water in said flush tank sha 1 be regulated by a Miller auto- matie syphon or some other sy` on equally as good, servicatle, and efficient. The concrete used in' the construction of said flush Lana shall be the same in composition as the concrete used in the construction of aatoh basins and manholes. All catch basins shall be constructed of concrete of the composition hereinafter specified. They shall be cylindrical in shape and shall have an internal diameter measurement of four feet, excepting at the top, at 'which point the. diameter will be two feet, the reduction being made by drawing in the upper two ,feet Of the galls ,of. said catch basins. The Walls of each of said catch basins shall be six ihee in °thickness and shall rest upon a foundation of concrete six inches thick. - The depth of each catch basin shall be seven feet three inohesc, measuring fro;ct the top of the iron cover, which shall be placed at the name elevation as the street adjacent thereto. Each of said - eatoh basins shall be connected with the sewer provided for to the street adjacent thereto., by means of an eight inch vitrified sewer pipe and shall be trapped with a trap of eight inches iron pipe. The trap shall be so set that the elevation of the bot- tom 'of the ;inside of the same shall be three feet six inches above the concrete base of the catch basin. Each catch basin shall be provided with a cast iron cover, which shall weigh not less than three hundred twenty-five )ounds The concrete used in the construction of manholes, catch basins , and combination manhoie-bnd. flush tanks, shall eon sist of one part Portland cement, of the best quality, two parts of `torpedo sand, and four parts of gravel or crushed stone. The emiient shall be free From lumps, dry and finely ground, well seasoned and thoroughly protected from injury by moisture. The sand used shall be such as will pass a serve with eight -meshes per lineal inch, and be retained on a s;JWe with thirty-six meshes per lineal inch, and Faust be clean, free from dirt, loam acid other foreign substances. All gravel used for concrete work shall be washed gravel; which shall pass a one inch screen and be retained on a screen with four meshes per lineal inch, duly graded as to size and free from dirt, loam and other foreign sub- stances. All stone used in concrete waxes 11 b+e dle'an,: sound limestone, free from dirt, loam and other foreign substances, duly graded as to size and broken so as to pass a one inch screen and be retained on a screen with four meshes per lineal inch. The cement and sand shall be thorn h��y mixed drys after *hieh it shall be moistened with water and made into mortar. The gravel or stone shall I first be sprinkled with water, then incorporated into the mortar and the mass thoroughly mixed together, The concrete shall not be mixed in larger quantities than is required for immediate use. The pipe used to connect the catch basins herein provided for with the sewer, shall be laid on such grade and- elevation as will give the some a uniform fall between the point where the same leaves the oatch basin and the point where the salve is discharged at the flow line of the sewer., The trenches to be excavated for the sewers herein provided for shall be excavated to a width of not less than. twelve inches greater than the outside diameter of the pipes to be laid therein. The bottom of the trench shall be so as not to cause any abrupt change in the grade or alignment =of the pipe and shall be such as will allow the pipes full bearing along their entire length. That said improvement be made and the entire ,oast thereof, including the stem of $214•04 (said sum being less six per centum of the mount of such assessment as estimated by the President of the Board of Local Improvements) and which said sum of $21o.00 is hereby provided to be applied towards the paymaat of the lawful costs and expenses of making and," aoileot- ing said assessment, being the same amount included in the said estimate of the President of the Board of Local Improvements, as the "lawful expenses attending the making of said proposed iMprovemetw' shall be paid for by special assessment :in accord- anee with` an act of the General Assembly of the State of Illinois entitled "An Act concerning Local Improvements," approved June 14th, 1897, in force July lst, 1897, and all subsequent acts amendatory thereof. Section 4. That the aggregate amount assessed and each individ- ual assessment and also the assessment against the municipality on account of property owned by the municipality, and for public benefits be divided into ten installments. Schell division Into installments shall be made so that all installments shall be equal in amount, except that all fractional amounts shall be added to the first installment, so as to leave the remaining installments of the aggregate equal in amount, and each a multiple of one hundred dollars. The first installment shall be due and payable r on the second day of January neat after the data of the dirst voucher, issued on acleount of work done, and the second install- ment one year thereafter, and so on annually until all installments are paid; and it is hereby made the duty of the Board of Local Improvements to file in the office of the Clerk of the Court in which such assessment will be confirmed, *a certificate signed by its secretary, of the date of said first voucher, and of the amount thereof, within thirty days after the issuance thereof. A11 installments shill bear interest as hereinafter provided until paid at the rate of five per centum per annum. interest on assessi.ierts shall begin to run froi.11 the date of the first voucher issued on account of work done as aforesaid. Section 5. That for the purpose of anticipating the collection of the second and succeeding installaent provided for i t a ordinance, it shall be le9mful for said Village of .; v issue bonds payable out of said installments, bearing interest at the rate of five per centum per annum, payable annually, and signe4Jby the President of the Board of Trustees of said Village under the corporate seal, said bonds shall be issued in suns of one hundred dollars or same multiple thereof and shall be dated and draw interest from the date of the issuing of the sane. Each _4 bond shall state on its face out of which installment it is pay- able and shall state by number or other designation the assessment of which such installment, belongs. The principal of such bonds s- shall not exceed in the aggregate the amount of such deferred installments and shall be divided into as many °series as there are deferred instal?.ments. Said speeial assessments shall be made and spread, said division into instaliments` shall be mace, said Interest shall be collected, said bonds shall be issued and be made payable and all' the other proceedings shall be had touching said assessment and said bonds in accordance with the terms and provisions of an Act of the General Assembly of the State of Illinois, entitldd "An Act ooncerning local Improvements," approved June 14th, 1897, in force July 'let, 1897, and all acts amendatory thereof. - Section 8.
