Historical Street Name Brochure Additional Business: Adjournment Next Meeting Date —Wednesday, October 18, 2006 United City of Yorkville Human Resource Commission Meeting Minutes of August 16, 2006 RAFT Location: Police Department Conference Called to Order: Diana called the meeting to order at 6:04 p.m. Quorum established Members present were: Ex-officio Members Lorene Frieders Sgt. Greg Siebenaller Madonna Bialek Cecelia Sanders Rose Spears, City of Yorkville Diana Lento-Reidy Tom Zerante Jeff Grezlik Dana Jones Minutes were reviewed. Madonna made a motion to accept the minutes. Diana seconded. Approved. Committee Reports: City Liaison Report: The National Night Out went very well, even though it was very hot,there were quite a few in attendance. Mayor's Report: Not present. City Council Report: Rose questioned the ability to have a popcorn machine. Madonna stated that she found that there was a `non-compete' with other food vendors. Diana asked about having freeze pops. Rose asked if we are trying to attract adults or kids. Diana suggested coffee. After much discussion, it was decided to do two gift baskets, one for women and one for men. The drawing will be at the close of the Hometown Days event. Winner will not have to be present to win. Cele will do the baskets with a suggested value of$50.00 each. Recreation Department Report: None Library Board Report:None School Report: None New Business: Volunteer Nomination Procedures—The forms Tom made up for the Volunteer Nomination and Guidelines were reviewed and changes made. Discussion included changing the date for submission to February 1St instead of March 1St to allow greater time to review the nominations. At the Mayor's suggestion,the awards will be given at the annual Volunteer Appreciation Picnic in May. It was also suggested to change the age categories from `under 13' to `12 and under' and to have forms returned to Glory Spies to ensure they get to a person and not a box or file. The Commission thanked Tom for all his hard work on this project. Hometown Days - The hours for Hometown Days are Friday from 5 to 11 p.m., Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 10 p.m. We will be in Booth 24. Maps were handed out and times scheduled to man the booth. Friday, Cele will be there from 5 —8 p.m., Jeff from 8 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Cele will be there from 11 a.m.—2 p.m., Jeff from 2—6 p.m. and Madonna from 6— 10 p.m. Sunday, Dana will be there from noon to 2 p.m., Cele from 2—4 p.m. and Jeff from 4— 8 p.m. There is no one scheduled for 8— 10 p.m. Sunday Madonna brought in the brochures for the Historical Street Naming Program. Cele took them to bring them to the booth on Friday. Old Business: Visitor Center—Schoenbachler Transactions Home Inspection and Willowcrest Nursing Home were both presented for review and both were Approved for inclusion in the Visitor Center. Historical Street Names—The Name of Irvin Monkamier was submitted for review. The Commission felt that more information was needed on what significant contribution Mr. Monkamier made. It was sent back for further information. ADDITIONAL BUSINESS Rose brought brochures from the Northeastern Illinois Area Agency on Aging's Senior Lifestyle Expo to be held in September at Drury Lane. She also brought petitions to be signed to be sent to the State Legislators to increase the amount of funds nursing home residents who are on Public Aid may keep for their own use. Madonna mentioned that the Senior Services Polka Party will be held at the PNA camp on September 17t'. There will be a$10 admission charge. Several mentioned the recent problems at the PNA camp and suggested she keep on top of the situation there. Tom made a motion to adjourn Diana seconded.
