In cooperation with the Illinois Department of Transportation, the Yorkville Police Department conducted saturation patrols with zero tolerance towards intoxicated motorists. The first enforcement period ran from December 19th, 2005 to January 1st, 2006. During the course of this period, officers made five arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol, one arrest for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs and two arrests for consumption of alcohol by minors. In addition, there were two citations issued for illegal transportation of alcohol along with thirty-seven citations and thirty-six written warnings for other various traffic offenses.
