Eric - no memo needed. This will be fine. Before Tuesday, I'll need Tom Healy to tell us if
he'll need a formal authorization letter for signature (similar to how we've done the last
two pieces). If so, I'd just like to make sure that's complete and in line with your email
below by Tuesday evening.
Jori and Lisa - you can place this email verbatim in the packet as the backup material.

Bart,
With the retrieval of the pump, motor and pipe, we now need to take the next step in the
repair of well 9. I would recommend that we proceed with phase III of the well 9 emergency
repair and authorize Layne to proceed with the following work items:
Disassemble, clean & inspect pump in yard, est.
3,300.00
Conduct 2nd TV survey to look for any remaining pump components, lump sum
1,700.00
Hypot test the power cable, lump sum
675.00
Potential extra cleaning of pipe for deeper inspection, due to failed connection(are there
others?), 6 hrs. @ $355/hr. 2,130.00
More thorough inspection of 400HP Byron Jackson Type H motor, due to the fall to bottom,
est. 975.00
More thorough inspection of Byron Jackson cast iron bowl, due to the fall to bottom, est. 8
hrs. @ $177/hr. 1,416.00
1
Demobilize phase II equipment including 10" pipe, truck and large crane to unload at shop
4,712.00
ESTIMATED TOTAL 14,908.00
Once this phase is complete, we will be able to get firm cost estimates to repair and
reinstall the well assembly. If you have any questions or need further information, please
let me know.
I can cut and paste this to a memo if needed.
thanks,
Eric

Tom:
I figured I should come up with estimates for the next phase, as we seem to have the
separated components out of the well and perhaps will be done with Phase 2, at the end of
today.
The next step is to clean and inspect all of the pump components, so that an accurate pump
repair estimate can be done. This normally involves the mobilization of the complete pump to
our Aurora yard for cleaning, disassembly and inspection.
For Phase 3, I estimate the following costs:
0 Load all fishing equipment, 10" pipe, motor, bowl, cable, etc.; haul to our yard, & unload
Large Crane - 8 hrs. @ $589/hr. 4,712.00
2
0 Disassemble, clean & inspect pump in yard, est.
3,300.00
0 Conduct 2nd TV survey to look for any remaining pump components, lump sum
1,700.00
0 Hypot test the power cable, lump sum
675.00
0 Potential extra cleaning of pipe for deeper inspection, due to failed connection(are there
others?), 6 hrs. @ $355/hr. 2,130.00
0 More thorough inspection of 400HP Byron Jackson Type H motor, due to the fall to bottom,
est. 975.00
0 More thorough inspection of Byron Jackson cast iron bowl, due to the fall to bottom, est.
8 hrs. @ $177/hr. 1,416.00
TOTAL PHASE 3 ESTIMATE
14,908.00
Tom, this process is always so hard to be totally right on, as we may see things as we do the
work that require attention and some added work. But I have tried to be conservative here.
Also, we discussed using the Well 4 rates from last year but they all do not really apply
here. First, the labor rates went up slightly last fall and some parts of this work scope
are not the same or don't apply here. Like the mob of the pump to our yard - it is much more
involved on this job.
If you have any questions, please give me a call.
