Human Resource 2004 01-15-04 United City of Yorkville S' Human Resource Commission Meeting Minutes of January 15,2004 !/ Location: Police Department Conference Room Called to order: Chairman Doug Trumble called the meeting to order at 6:12 p.m. Members present were: Ex-officio Members Doug Trumble Chief Harold Martin Sylvia Kurtz Sue Swithin Wendy Gatz Kay Engler Diana Lento-Riedy Absent: Rose Spears, Eldon Madden and Lorene Frieders Citizen - Guests- Wanda Ohare Amendments to the Agenda: None Minutes for Approval: Kay made the-first motion,Diana seconded the motion with the correction to Wanda's last name. Committee Reports City Liaison Report: - Chief Martin said the that Yorkville's has approximately 8,749 people in town. The Police Department has 21 full-time employees, and 2 part-time employees, and they are down 3 part-timers. The Chief also said that the more people Yorkville has, the more Police Officers it will allocate. Lastly, the build out on the building is complete and it is a good time to start up with the Visitor's Center. Cly Council Re on rt' Rose was not present, however Wanda Ohare was able to fill us in. The developers are moving slowly. Wanda stated that she was present to discuss the Visitor's Center. Mayor: - none Parks and Recreation - Sue stated that the office has changed location in the Beecher building. The office is now located across from its original site. Parks and Recreation now has a full time Secretary. *On January 31, 2004 Parks and Recreation will be holding a Winter Family Fun Day. *Parks and Rec. will also be doing an NBA basketball contest. Whoever wins goes to the United Center to compete. The Bulls are sponsoring the event, and there are rules that apply. * The new Spring catalog is almost ready to be sent out. A lot of new things to do. '"Sue's office is now located in the Rec. building by the park by the river. *Lastly, Sue was wondering how the Parks and Recreation and the HRC committee could work together to benefit one another? LibmEy Board: - Wanda said at the next City Council meeting, there will be a presentation about the expansion of the Library. School District: - Doug said everyone is preparing to move with the addition of the new intermediate school. There were only approximately 20 people that attended the meetings on the new school boundaries. Sue then spoke about the Parks and Recreation Department becoming a Park District and how it would not be all that advantageous. Old Business - Wendy is shared all the information about the Visitor's Center that Wanda had given her before she left the HRC. *Sue said she would get a print out from Lynn D. from the Economic Development Committee. Sue thought it would be pretty helpful to try and get all the information out about the Visitor's Center in the hands of the right business owners. *Doug moved that we change the date on the current letter and send it out!!!!!! We will talk to Chief Martin. We then spoke about a press release for the Visitor's Center. Wanda then gave Doug everything she had on the Visitor's Center. The group decided to get the ball rolling we put a 1st motion in and Diana seconded it , no discussion and the motion carried!!!H!!!! I!!!! #2 - Street Naming -there are no new nominations. Chief Martin will check to see where we are with this. #3 - Teen Reach Grant - Classy Classy is still going on with new direction from Jennifer Darnel New Business: Sue said her Department is really trying to figure out what more Yorkville wants, what are we missing? Sue said the status of Safety Town is on hold. Because of the new Government all the grants are hold. .
