Meeting Minutes of November 13, 2003
Location: Police Department Conference Room
Called to order: Chairman Doug Trumble-called the meeting to order at 6:21 p.m.

Minutes for Approval: - Sylvia made the first motion,-Lorene seconded the motion.
Committee Reports
City Liaison Report._Lt. Don Schwartzkopf said the Police Department was
down to 36 applicants interested in becoming Policemen. Currently the Yorkville PD has
22 officers: 19 full-time, and part-time.
City Council Report- - none
Mayor -none
Parks and Recreation- - The fall season will end soon. The Halloween egg,hunt
was a big success. There were 400 people that participated, finding a total of 3,000 eggs.
The department was going to start with the winter catalog. Originally the department had
4 seasons with 20 activities, now the department has 50 each quarter. They will also start
the teen club at the high school with Dance Revolution. The status of safety town was
discussed. Yorkville is waiting for a grant. There will be no construction until the grant is
approved. The plans for safety town have already been made,just waiting for money.
Library Board: - The expansion of the Library is a go, however no money has
exchanged hands.
School District - The Wellness Committee is looking at Character Counts.
Prevention and Intervention in our community and how to blend them all together. The
Wellness Committee will begin meeting on 11/14/03, and will meet quarterly.

Old Business: Take a review of the goals off our-Agenda. Wanda 9 44aea,gave
everything to Wendy for the Visitor's Center. We need to get the letters out and identify
businesses that are available to participate with-the Visitor's Center. Our original goals
were for businesses such as, Recreation Services, Schools, Lion's Club, Kiawanis,
Churches and the Senior Center. The pamphlet holders are downstairs in tbq City
building. We also discussed giving all the interested businesses a deadline to send their
information in for review. Lastly, we reviewed street names and decided we've done
everything we can do until more people have been nominated, and we were told about the
new Yorkville city signs. The signs are located at the following intersections, Lynnwood,
Galena Road and Eldamain. Sue S. is going to ask the Chamber of Commerce to get us a
business list.
