There was a question about why the Library was receiving a bill from City Attorney John
Wyeth. The City Attorney never used to charge the library. There was question about
using the Library's Attorney. The City Attorney's rate is less expensive than the Library's
Attorney. Russ Walter and Tom Lindblom said that they felt the City Attorney was
working in our best interest.

Unfinished Business
Last Tuesday a letter of intent was sent to Henry Brothers, the selected builder. There
was a meeting with the city and the school to discuss the detention pond. Tom Lindblom
has Henry Brothers insurance certificate and contract. There will be a standing progress
meeting every other Thursday at 8 am. The trailer and fencing should be arriving
Thursday or Friday this week. The trees that were marked to cone out and the bushes
can hopefully be left until spring. The Parks District wants to use the bushes elsewhere
in the city. The dirt will be stockpiled behind the wooded area behind the detention area.
Tom Lindblom called the agent of the Builder's Risk Policy. The price quote for the$7.5
million policy rather than the$7.7 million and the quote was more than what Tom
Lindblom quoted to the Board. It was because they included a$250 premium for Flood
Insurance and a$250 premium for Earthquake Insurance. There was discussion about
what the agent defined Flood insurance as. Tom Lindblom recommended spending the
money for the Flood insurance, but not the Earthquake Insurance. The total cost for
insurance will go up from the original price of$6,930 to$7,000.
Groundbreaking will be October 18`h at 5 pm. Henry Brothers has 12 hard hats and 12
shovels available. It was discussed that the Mayor and Alderman could be invited. Rich
Stick and Kelly Murray will be invited. A representative from the architect and the
building fpm will also be present. Michelle Pfister will have it put in the City newsletter
and the Beacon and Record will be invited. Michelle Pfister will have punch and cookies
available. Jo Ann Gryder was asked to say something on behalf of the Library Board.

New Business
Information from both 3M and Checkpoint will be requested as well as meetings about
their products. It is getting close to time to decide which system to purchase. Michelle
Pfister prefers checkpoint. She referred to it as the`Cadillac" of checkout systems. It
was thought Checkpoint will cost$200,000 for everything, but it might be possible to
start for under $100,000. Checkpoint has a security box for DVD's and .3M does not have
any security for DVDs. The Auto-Checkpoint would be easy for the patrons to use.
Russ Walter thought they were comparable in price,Michelle Pfister thought Checkpoint
cost more. The development fees for books and technology would be used to pay for
this.
Adjournment
The meeting was adjourned at 7:35 pm.
