The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by Chairwoman Wanda Ohare.
MINUTES FOR APPROVAL/CORRECTION—August 23, 2005:
The minutes were approved as read.
RFP FOR TOWER RENTAL AND WIRELESS INTERNET SERVICE:
Ron Robinson had put together a request for proposal to lease Yorkville's existing five
water towers out to wireless internet service providers in exchange for a monetary value
and supplying the residents of Yorkville with high speed wireless internet at an
affordable price. Usually wireless providers will put up an antennae array which will
consist of anything from five to eight antennae to cover a 360 degree radius. Currently,
there is one mount on the three new towers, so if we had other wireless internet service
providers come in, as this will not be a monopoly, they would have to provide a shop
drawing on how they would like to mount another antennae mount on the water tower.
These are grounded. They would put the antennae on the mount and would run a cable
straight down the center of the tower through predrilled holes and would mount their base
equipment at the bell of the tower and would run their own electrical circuit to the box in
the base. Ron Robinson's only concern is that he does not want the wireless service
providers to mar the new water towers with corrosion, etc.
Ron Robinson would like to get five proposals which include the three that have
contacted him last fall. This will be publicized in the newspapers. It will first need to go
to John Wyatt, City Attorney, for approval for legality purposes. It then will go to the
Committee of the Whole and be put out to the public in middle to late February. Ron
Robinson would like City Council approval before he sends out the RFP.

Chairman and have the person replacing her, take her place on the Committee. She
would like to keep pushing to have someone join the Committee and would like to stress
the need to keep a technology line in the budget.
The next Ad-Hoc Technology meeting date will be announced.
