UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE ` OQ
HUMAN RESOURCE COMMISION t
MEETING MINUTES OF JANUARY 16, 2003
Location: City of Yorkville, City Hall Conference Room
Called to Order: Chairman Doug Trumble called the meeting to order at 555pm
Attendance: Committee Members Ex-officio Members
Doug Trumble Harold Martin, Police Chief
Rose Kahle Art Prochaska, (limited time)
Sylvia Kurtz
Wanda Ohare
Elden Madden
Diana Lento-Leidy
Absent: Vacant member Rose Spears, City Council
Citizens—Guests: Mrs. Prochaska
Amendments to the Agenda: none
Minutes for Approval: September, October, November minutes approved. No meeting
held in December. Motion by D. Lento-Reidy/R. Kahle.
Minutes of current meeting are not being taped due to absence of R. Spears.
Committee Reports: City Liaison Report—Chief Martin will be looking for new officer
applicants. The present list has been depleted. Larry Hilt was promoted to sergerent.
Officers are currently working 12 hour shifts. The schedule will be on a trial basis for 6
months. Each shift will have 1 sergeant and 2 officers. Questions have come up
regarding the animal control department. When there is a loose animal, and the animal
control is called, too much time is wasted in order for her to return to her office to consult
the computer. This is currently how the owner, by the tag number on the animal, is
located. It was suggested by S.Kurtz that a laptop computer or other source be
researched. It could be used as a mobile access to county information.
City Council—Mayor Prochaska stated there is no one to fill the
vacancy on the HRC at this time. Regarding the status of the old jail, possibly the
Visitor's Center could be there. Staffing and future use of the location can better be
addressed after the widening of Rt 47 and the hill removal. Carol Grote retired from the
Senior Citizen's center. She will be presented with a plague and recognition at a City
Council meeting.
Recreation Board—none
Library Board—W. Ohare reported the expansion plans of the
library are moving forward. The architect is working on, hopefully, a final plan for
review. The past idea of becoming a district library has been completely dropped.
ti )
School District—D. Trumble told the members the school district
is quite pleased on the bids that have come in. They are lower that expected. The high
school should be ready for use in January 2004 and the new intermediate school in
August 2004. The January (midyear) will not be a difficult adjustment for high school
students. The beginning of a school year would be best and much easier for lower grade
students. Less confusion.
Old Business: Visitors' Center—W. Ohare has a list of information and
businesses to contact. She is waiting on the letters to go out. and wishes to work with a
contact person yet to be named to oversee the center. The addresses would be more
accurate using the water department lists. These are questions for the mayor to help with.
Street Namine—R.Kahle and E. Madden reported the list is
growing with several new nominations. More research needs to done regarding these and
other nominations for the list. A couple of letters were sent out 2 weeks ago with no
response. R.Kahle and E. Madden will contact Rose Spears regarding the status of the
list with the City Council. Also need to know what is happening with research of validity
regarding the nominees
C.L.A.S.Y. —Has anew director. The past director resigned.
Everything still seems to working well and is serving a vital need to the students using
the service.
New Business: No new member at this time.
