Committee Reports: City Liaison Roort—The police department is hiring two (2)new
officers by the end of April or May. One will be a replacement.
City Council - The new addition for the city hall will be started soon.
A much needed new parking lot for the rear of the building and expanded city council chambers.
A procedures form is needed for street naming—Letter of Approval —There is much to be done
to get the steps in place and the project up and running.
Mayor—not present.
Parks and Recreation - The department wants to look into starting
senior/student program with the Yorkville Schools where there is an exchange of talents.
Oswego has such a program called Golden Panthers and it is working extremely well. It would
offer the students the opportunity to perform community service which is much needed and
sought after for scholarship and college applications. An example of an exchange could be basic
computer skills for crocheting. The department is expanding enough to hire a full time
maintence person to take care of the ball fields. Also, expanding programs for high school age
and seniors.
Library Board—no report.
School district—The superintendent has plans in place for code orange
and red alerts from Homeland Security. This has been communicated between the schools
administration and city officials.
Old Business: The Visitor's Center is stalling again. The research work from the helper
recommended by Laura Brown was good but not completed. He has not shown up anymore to
finish. W.Ohare will complete the addresses.
The Street Naming Project is also running into road blocks. A working
meeting will be held in two weeks. Everyone is advised to organize their information and lists.
Come prepared to sort through the nominations and complete the procedures list and review
policies.
New Business: None
Meeting adjourned: Motion by D.Lento-Reidy/S.Kurtz at 7:05pm
