UPDATE OF CURRENT WARDS
Alderman Marty Munns stated that the current population was noted in the minutes from
May 17, 2002. These figures show what the population was before the switch. The
population for Ward 3 was 2,184 and will now go down to 1,559 people. It was the Ward
with the most number of people lost. Ward 1 lost about 57 people, Ward 2 gained 450
people and Ward 4 gained 300. He said that after putting the wards and population into
the computer that there were only 2 ways they could go without being able to split up the
blocks. Alderman Munns said that after the committee approves this item it would need
to go to Attorney Kramer. After the attorney reviews it then it would be sent to the next
Committee of the Whole for review.
Alderman Sticka asked if there is an area that gets annexed in,what ward will it go to.
AIderman Munns said that it would likely go to the smallest ward, which is Ward 2.
Alderman Kot asked if someone new moves in what ward would they belong to.
Alderman Munns said that if they move within the bounds then more than likely they
would go to Ward 2. Alderman James then asked if they do get annexed in,do they need
to identify the ward that it would go into and if so would there have to be some language
to specify it. Alderman Sticka said no that it would be up to the City to make that
decision. Alderman Munns commented that when we get up 15,000 there might need to
be a
5th
ward.
There was no further additional business.
This item will be sent to the next Committee of the Whole after Attorney Kramer's
review.
Meeting adjourned 7:30 p.m.
