Subject:Vacation time.
Following is a proposal for vacation time accumulation and usage which
would replace section VII Absences, part 27 Vacations, of the employee
manual.
few
ACCUMULATION
During the first five years of employment (from employment date thru the
5th anniversary of employment) , vacation accumulates at a rate of 1 day
per month for 10 months (no vacation would accumulate for the last 2 months
of the year) i
During the next five years of employment (from the 5th anniversary thru the
10th anniversary of employment) , vacation accumulates at a rate of 1.5 days
per month for 10 months (no vacation would accumulate for the last 2 months
of the year) .
After ten years of employment (after the 10th anniversary of employment) ,
vacation accumulates at a rate of 2 days per month for 10 months (no
vacation would accumulate for the last 2 months of the year) .
USE OF ACCUMULATED VACATION TIME
r
All vacation ,usage must be with the approval of the appropriate department
head.
Vacation usage will be on an employment year basis (rather than calendar year) .
One week of vacation may be taken as single days. The remainder of vacation
must by taken in 5 day increments.
Vacatipn time must be used "in the alloted time or it is lost.
Employees earning 4 weeks vacation may take up to 5 days vacation as pay,
subject to the approval of the department head. In effect, said employee will
receive double time during the days he would have had off as vacation.
First year employee: vacation time may be taken after the first anniversary of
employment but must be taken before the 2nd anniversary of employment.
No vacation benefits will be paid to an employee if termination occurs
during the first twelve months of employment.
All other employees: the first half of vacation may be taken after 5 months
but must be taken before 24 months from the previous anniversary. The second
half of vacation may be taken after 10 months but must be taken before 24
months from the previous anniversary.
NOTE: This system would allow an employee with proper plannin and permission
to take one and one half times his normal vacation and would eliminate the
problems now faced by employees with service anniversaries near the end of
the calendar year.
