Meeting called to order: 6:40 P.M.
Roll Call: Chairman Johnson

Also present: Lt. Schwartzkopf
Previous Meeting Minutes: Minutes for April 1, 2002 and April 6, 2002 were approved.
Communications: received communication from the Illinois Association of Police and
Fire Commissioners regarding House Bill 1689.
Bills for Payment: none
Unfinished Business: Election of officers for Board of Fire and Police Commissioners.
Commissioner Putzler nominated Jim Jensen for Secretary. Second by
Chairman Johnson. Roll call: Johnson Aye

Commissioner Putzler nominated Bob Johnson for Chairman. Second by
Commissioner Jensen. Roll call: Jensen Aye

Revision of Commission Rules and Procedures.
All present agreed to changes made:
pg. 3 Chapter 2 Section 2: Application Blanks. Paragraph 3.
pg. 4 Chapter 2 Section 3: Disqualification. Add a paragraph V.
pg. 6 Chapter 3 Section 4:Examinations-Minimum Grade. Addition to last
paragraph and altered percentages of total grade.
pg. 8 Chapter 3 Section 10: Final Eligibility Register. Paragraph D.
pg. 10 Chapter 4 Section 1: General. Possible change to Paragraph A was
deferred until next meeting.
New Business: Chairman Johnson opened discussion as to whether or not city council
via the mayor has to go through the formality of voting and swearing in new hires. If not,
the board was curious as to who can. Putzler agreed to follow up on the questions. The
reason for this discussion is based on the timing between city council meetings and police
academy start up.
Additional Business: Working on a date in June to give annual report to city council.
Adjournment: Commissioner Putzler moved to adjourned, seconded by Jensen.
