Complete revisions to Rules and Regulations:
Questions answered by John Broihier.
1. Per John Broihier- Can an oral question carry more weight, i.e. To weight education?
No,to give education more weight it needs to be in the merit and efficiency by the
Chief.
2. Does the written test need a passing grade? If the test is validated it should. This
may take away from the motivation to study. See page 10, Section 1 of the Rules and
Regulations, which states that the Board prior to conducting examination will
announce the grade. Chief Martin requests if we can find a validated affordable test
for promotion we go with a passing grade. As of now the only one he knows of is
Standard and Associates and theirs is approx. $14,000 for validation.
3. Does the City Council have to vote on our approval? We make the appointment,
issue the certificate and swear new hires in. The Commission agreed that it is nice for
the new hire and his/her family to have a swearing in ceremony.
There was a lot of discussion in regards to Page 8 Section 10(d), language for conditional
offer of employment. As of now the language will remain the same. Chief Martin was
asked to talk to Powers and verify our language.
As of March 14, 2002 we can now accept applications from County Deputies over the
age of 35.
Chief Martin will have Molly re-type the rules and regulations with the changes agreed _
on by the commission. After Powers looks over Page 8 Section 10(d) more changes may
need to be made.
