Minutes for November 5, 1998 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Co-Chairman Doug Trumble.at 5:45PM.
Members present:
Co-Chairman Luann Peters (6:40PM)., Wanda Ohare, Diane Lento-Riedy, Rose Kahle (excuse),
Robert James, Mayor Bob Johnson and Chief Tony Graff.
Motion was made by R. James to approve the October 1, 1998 minutes as presented with the
corrections, 2nd by W. Ohare. Motion Passed
Committee Reports:
1.City Liaison
Chief Graff and Mayor Johnson gave a presentation in regards to Census 2000. The
Mayor was asking the Commission to partner with the U.S. Census Bureau for the
upcoming 2000 census. The Mayor was presenting a Proclamation and wanted the
Human Resource Commission to form the Complete Count Committee as requested by
the,U.S. Census Bureau. The members discussed the responsibilities and duties of this
committee. A motion was made by W. Ohare that the Human Resource Commission is
willing to accept the request by the Mayor for the Complete Count Committee
designation as stated in the City of Yorkville Census 2000 Proclamation and 2nd by R.
James. Motion Passed.
Chief Graff stated he will contact our Census 2000 Partnership Coordinator, Anton Seals
in Chicago (312-353-9697) to request information and if he can attend one of the
meetings to assist the Commission with formulating a plan of action to address the issues
with Census 2000. The members received a packet of informational material about
Census 2000.
Old Business:
1.Discussion about the Mission statement was continued from the last meeting and the
members approved the final draft of the mission statement as stated to present at the next
meeting.

Our Mission is to help make Yorkville a safe place where people will
want to live and business will want to locate. We will have a positive
impact, building a sense of community through projects that will
continue to make Yorkville a better place.
The members discussed the final draft and decided to always have the Best Hopes and Worst
Fears information in front of them and to revisit this document within 6 months. The Mission
Statement should be finalized at the next meeting for adoption if there are no other changes.
2.Chairman Trumble had the members separate into three groups and write some goals for
the commission. Each group wrote two goals as follows:
A. Unite this community to take responsibly of connecting themselves to community and
neighbor needs of small children and senior citizens.
B. That the community help support local businesses with more support.
C. To empower our neighbors to respond to census 2000, striving for 100%participation.
D. To educate the community about the Human Resource Commission's's mission.
E. Increase services and improve communication for all citizens throughout the community
F. Work to make senior citizens lives safer and fuller.
These preliminary goals will be reviewed at the next meeting.
New Business:
Chairman Peters states she was approached by Gay Early to help the Commission with any sub-
committee work. The members thought she should be contacting reference to Census 2000
Committee.
No other additional business. The next meeting agenda items will be to review the Mission
Statement and Review/Revise Goals and discuss objectives.
Next meeting will be December 3, 1998 at 5:45PM, at the Yorkville National Bank.
Motion was made by R. James for adjournment, 2nd by L. Peters. Motion Passed.
