Minutes for January 7, 1999 Meeting
The meeting was called to order by Co-Chairman LuAnn Peters at 5:58PM.
Members present:
Co-Chairman Doug Trumble, Wanda Ohare, Rose Kahle, Robert James, Mayor Bob Johnson
and Chief Tony Graff.
Motion was made by R. Kahle to approve the December 3, 1998 minutes as mailed, 2nd by R.
James. Motion Passed
Committee Reports:
1.City Liaison
Chief Graff had an update on the Census 2000 project. There is a meeting in Rochelle to
review the master address list and City Staff will be attending. No other information is
available regarding the 2000 Census. Chief Graff stated the process will begin soon to
announce the selection process and interviews for the COPS Officer Assignment. The
committee discussed the process further and it was agreed upon to have Chief Graff
present more information on the process and the position at the next meeting. The
Commission did agree to have a special meeting on February 18, 1999, at 5:30PM
Old Business:
1.The review of the goals and objectives began with LuAnn requesting input from the
members. The members started reviewing the first draft of goals which had six goals and
after member discussion the following goals were agreed upon.
GOALS:
A Empower the community to take responsibility for the community and
neighborhood needs of small children, youth, adults and senior citizens.
B. Empower our neighbors to respond to census 2000.
C Educate the community about the Human Resource Commission's mission.
D. Increase services and improve communication for all citizens throughout the
community.
MISSION STATEMENT
Our Mission is to help make Yorkville a safe place where people will want to live and business will
want to locate. We will have a positive impact, building a sense of community through projects that
will continue to make Yorkville a better place.
New Business:
Old Kendall County Courthouse discussion began with Mayor Johnson explaining to the
commission about the recent dialogue with County Board. Mayor Johnson discussed the current
concept regarding city facilities and address looking to find a facility for a Community Resource
Center. The Game Farm House (Police Dept.) Could be a resource center when the police move
into a different facility. However, we will need to move the house if we build the new facility on
the Game Farm Property. The Old Kendall County Courthouse issue could possible be used as a
resource center of some type and at this time there are discussion on saving the courthouse and a
feasibility study will be conducted. Mayor Johnson just wanted to inform the commission on the
courthouse issue at this time and he will keep the commission informed.

No additional business was discussed.
Next Scheduled meeting is February 4, 1999 at 5:45PM at Yorkville National Bank Community
Room.
