Human Resource Commission Minutes 1999 04-199904 - 9'9 CITY OF YORRVILIX HUMAN RBSOURCH COMISSION 111 WEST PDX STREIT z nmyrLLZ, IL 60560 Old Business : 1 . The Vision statement as presented by Co-Chairman Doug Trumble was perused and discussed at length. A few minor corrections were made . Wanda Ohare made a motion to accept the amended Vision and Rose Kahle seconded. Approved. 2 . The Goals and Objectives were perused/changed as follows : GOAL A: Empower the community to take responsibility for the community and neighborhood needs of small children, youth, adults, and senior citizen. OBJECTIVES: 1 . Develop/Sponsor a Welcome Committee to greet new residents . 2 . Plan for a Resource/Welcome Center for residents . 3 . Work with and support various agencies and churches in the community which already provide services to small children, youth, adults, and senior citizens . 4 . Promote and communicate about events and activities in the community, which focus on quality of life (i .e GED classes, parenting classes, senior/youth activities, neighborhood block parties, senior transportation. GOAL B: Educate the community about the Human Resource Commission' s mission. OBJECTIVES: 1 . Develop lines of communication with community groups in order to coordinate activities and initiatives which further the development of the Human Resource Commission' s mission: a. To educate community members through distribution of information via new articles and correspondence. b. To obtain information from a appropriate community groups . GOAL C: Increase services and improve communication for all citizens throughout the community. OBJECTIVES: 1 . Spearhead the community effort on the Census 2000 by serving: a. To educate community members through the distribution of information. b. Tovpro ide appropriate assistance. c. To coordinate Census 2000 activities . d. To stress the importance of accuracy. 2 . Promote town meetings . 3 Sponsor and coordinate community needs assessment using community policing programs (i .e. Citizens Police Academy, Explorers) . Rose Kahle made a motion to approve the Goals and Objectives as amended and Diana Lento-Reidy seconded. Approved. New Business: 1. The Committee discussed inviting Sue Swithin to our next meeting, May 6, 1999 at 5 : 45 p.m. 2 . The School and Community Partnership was tabled until the next meeting. Doug Trumble will present the information at that time. Additional Business: No additional business was discussed. The next scheduled meeting is May 6, 1999 at 5 : 45 p.m. at the Yorkville National Bank Community Room. A motion to adjourn was made by Wanda Ohare and seconded by Diana Lento-Reidy. Motion passed.
