Human Resource Commission Minutes 2000 11-16-00United City of Yorkville Human Resource Commission Minutes for November 16, 2000 CALL TO ORDER and ESTABLISH QUORUM: The meeting was called to order at 6 PM and all the members of the commission were present. INTRODUCTION OF GUESTS AND CITIZEN COMMENTS: There were no guests and there were no citizen comments. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: Lu Anne Peters read the minutes of the last meeting. Bob James made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Diana Lento-Reidy second the motion. All voted yes. OLD BUSINESS: There was nothing to report on the Census 2000. MILLENIUM PROJECT: Many questions and suggestions were brought up on the Millenium Project as follows: Does the City Council want the clock tower for the Millenium? Where are the funds coming from? There is no definite location. Should the Public Safety Committee take on the beginning of the Millenium Project and present it to the City Council? The Aurora Foundation is a part of Kendall County and should they get involved? A suggestion that a questionaire be made in the Kendall County Record, about the millenium project,that can be answered through programmed voice mail. Wanda O'Hare made a motion that the Human Resource Commission do research with the Yorkville community,by placing an article in the Kendall County Record, and ask for comments from the public on a millenium project. Motion was seconded by Diana Lento-Reidy and all voted yes. Lu Anne Peters made a motion that Doug Trumble write the letter to the newspaper and the Motion was seconded by Wanda O'Hare. Motion passed. NEW BUSINESS: Teen Reach" is an after school program, that involves life skills, family, recreation, job training, at risk activities. It is also a County Wide program involving the Plano and Yorkville school districts, and the Fox YMCA. Pinewood Resource Center" will be closed on December 31, 2000 due to lack of interest and participation by the residents living in Pinewood. The mobile home the City obtained will become the "Yorkville Community Center" and Sue Swithin will be there part-time. The home will be open four to five hours daily and can be used as a conference room. ADDITIONAL BUSINESS: The Yorkville Police Department will give a presentation to the commission, by a student at the next meeting. Lu Anne Peters made a motion for the Yorkville Human Resource Commission vote for a recording secretary that was seconded by Rose Kahle and all voted "yes". Lu Anne Peters made a motion that Robert W. James Jr. be the Yorkville Human Resource Commissions' Recording Secretary, which was seconded by Wanda O'Hare and all voted"yes". Lu Anne Peters made a motion that all committee reports be on the Yorkville Human Resource Meeting Official Agenda, which was seconded by Wanda O'Hare and all voted "yes". PARK DISTRICT REPORT: Sylvia Kurtz reported that there will be senior subsidized housing on Rt. 47, and that there will be a bike path through the subdivision. The parks are in bad shape, especially the ball diamonds. LIBRARY REPORT: Wanda O'Hare reported that the Library is looking into expansion of the Library. The Library is seeking help from Hastert, Cross, ect. and is seeking an Architect. The Yorkville Library is a City Library and not a District Library, which limits the funds. Bob James made a motion to accept the Library Report and it was seconded by Lu Anne Peters, afterwhich the motion passed. Wanda O'Hare made a motion to adjourn, which was seconded by Diana Lento-Reidy and motion passed at 7:50 PM. Next Meeting tentative for December 14, 2000. Recorded by: Robert W.
