Human Resource Commission Minutes 2001 12-13-01CITY'OF YORKVILLE — Prepared by Michelle Leight HUMAN RESOURCE COMMISSION DECEMBER 13, 2001 MINUTES CALL TO ORDER: The meeting was called to order at approximately 5:45 p.m. by Co-Chairman Doug Trumble. ESTABLISH A QUORUM: Members present included Doug Trumble, Diana Lento-Riedy, Michelle Leight, Wanda O'Hare. Ex-officio members Mayor Art Prochaska, Harold Martin and Rose Spears also present. CITIZEN COMMENTS: There were no citizen comments. APPROVAL OF MINUTES: November 1, 2001, minutes were reviewed and approved. Motion made to approve by Wanda O'Hare and seconded by Diana Lento-Riedy. COMMITTEE REPORTS: City Liaison—Harold Martin Two full-time police officers to be hired by Yorkville Police Department. Applications are being accepted through December 28, 2001. To date, 17 applications have been received. Yorkville will be receiving two defibulators on December 18, 2001. Sergeant Dietrich is being trained on operation. One will be kept in a squad car and the other defibulators location is to be determined. One location possibility is the Beecher Community Center. The mayor suggested conducting a community survey to determine possible locations for the equipment. Currently, a grant is in to the Illinois Department of Public Health for two additional defibulators. City Getrey I. vote on December 13, 2001, on the following: Scales for overweight vehicles Hiring Smith Engineering to conduct safety surveys at Fox Road and Kennedy Road City grant regarding a school resource officer is pending. Recreation Department Liaison— Sylvia Kurtz No report given due to the absence of Sylvia Kurtz. Library Board Liaison—Wanda O'Hare Wanda was unable to attend the Library Board meeting; however, Mayor Art Prochaska attended reported. The Library Board received the results of the needs assessments and will begin to search for estimates on architectural costs, site feasibility, plans,_etc. Mayor's Report—Art Prochaska City Welcome signs are to be replaced. The mayor presented a possible layout of the new sign. Doug Trumble suggested to include the Yor i - is a Character Counts Community. l ; OLD BUSINESS/NEW BUSINESS: Yorkville Human Resource Commission still in search for a seventh member. IA , The members reviewed the goals discussed at the November 1, 2001, meeting. Wanda CY° . re made a motion to accept the goals and it was seconded by Diana Lento-Riedy. Mayor Art Prochaska mentioned a problem occurred this Christmas season with the distribution of decorated trees to needy families. It was suggested that this be a future project for the Human Resource Commission to accept and act as the coordinating lead in the efforts. Wanda O'Hare recommended the Yorkville Human Resource Commission create an event/project calendar. Doug Trumble expressed the importance of the Human Resource Commission to communicate its goals to the city council and to the community at large. It was suggested that we utilize the Kendall County Record as a medium to circulate news to Yorkville. Michelle Leight was suggested as a possible media coordinator for the committee. The Establishment of Objectives based on our goals and Assignment of duties based on our goals and objectives was tabled for discussion at our next meeting. The Development of Street Naming Procedures was tabled for discussion at our next meeting. The members discussed the MetLife Grant oppoty and dismissed pursuing it. Rose Spears informed the board that Lynn ubochek vill send a representative from the Chamber of Commerce to our next meeting to discuss the possibility of a Welcome Center. The Chamber of Commerce is excited about the possibility of creating the welcome center. A time slot has been allotted for this discussion at our next meeting between 5:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. NEXT MEETING: JANUARY 10, 2002 5:45 P.M.
