Human Resource Commission Minutes 2002 05-12-025/12/02 Everyone in attendance except Michelle Leight Meeting starting at 6:03 p.m. New member: Elden Madden 1) Chief Martin: Hired Denise Janecek- Sandwich Officer Jeff Achlin- Plano Looking at two others. Grant for$125,000.00 in Middle school for cop in the school - Barry Hart/ 18 full time officers and 5 part-time officers. Want to maintain 2.5 officers per 1,000 people. 2). No news from the Rec Department 3). Library-No report 4). School reports- Graduation 6/6/02 School breaking ground? (Doug Trumble) 1.slow bores 2.selling bonds 3. preliminary stuff w/teachers 4. what do the buildings need? 5.Doug says maybe break ground/build in September 6.1 1/2 years for the High School 7.Grade school - 2 years 8.Schools will be redistricted 9.Strong work towards reducing the debt 10. Talked about where the new schools may go in the future land/cash discussion OLD BUSINESS 1). Visitors center update: Wanda sent letter to Rose - City Council approved the denomination requested for the pamphlet holder. Doug briefed Eldon on the visitor's center. Wanda says we need to get an informational letter out to organizations for the pamphlets that are put out for visitors to see. Rose said they are looking to see if there are any set standards that we can use as guidelines. 2). DEVELOPMENT OF STREET NAME PROCEDURE Doug asked if we are looking to name streets after people? Very long discussion on how we're going to come up with names for streets. Talked about the guidelines for names submitted. At the next meeting in June, Rose and Eldon will come back with a list Of criteria to begin establishing some guidelines. Someone that doesn't necessarily live in the city guidelines but has helped the city- something that we may want to publish for public knowledge. 3). We will take clothing pantry off our list. 4). Yorkville may be losing Carrie who takes care of C.L.A.S.Y. for at risk kids Updated Eldon on C.L.A.S.Y.) Doug says he doesn't know what the future of C.L.A.S.Y. is - because the Governor's Plan is to end grants and give more money to student assessments, they will decide this at the May 17, 2002 meeting. Doug continues to review our goals - are we doing what were supposed to be doing? The next scheduled meeting is June 6, 2002. Rose Spears gives us Bolingbrook's a 501(c)3 Non Profit Agency- that way we can get Money from Grant's. Chief Martin says we'll check w/Tracy about specifics on a 501(c)3 program. Discussion on Doug's term expiration date? ADDITIONAL BUSINESS Youth making a difference." Come up with some kids that would fit the list criteria.
