Called to Order: Chairman Doug Trumble called the meeting to order at 555pm.

Minutes for Approval:Motion by R. Kahle/E. Madden
Citizen's comments: 9/11 will be referred to a"A Day to Remember"also as"Patriot
Day:" It is no holiday and has no celebration. The American
Legion post proposes no school bells—raise the flags to half-mast
in the am and a raising of the flags to full mast at 11 am. Legion
members and selected school members will do this. This is for all
public parks and schools in the city. The flag raisings will be
simultaneously at 11 am that day.
Response: The mayor will present this information to the city council to
coincide with the Character Counts week activities of Sept 6—14.
Committee Reports:
City Liaison Report—Lt. Schwarttio-Street names draft letter
had changes by Dan Kramer, Chief Martin will create a clean
copy. Blank forms for suggested names will be available at
Hometown Days. He will ask D.Kramer about legal background
checks on selected names. Need to avoid public slander. List
names alphabetically.
Mayor— Six pillars in front of City Hall will have temporary
decorations for 9/11 and Character Counts week by all schools.
Roadway will be painted red-white-blue for walk to City Park.
Recreation Department—Mayor—The city council will be in
closed session to select a Director of Recreation. Had several
candidates.
Library Board: none
School District: D. Tremble—Schools are open. There is a
parking problem at the high school. Students will have to adjust
and deal with the space allowed and walk a little further.
November should be the start of the new school. The HS addition
is out for bid should start very soon.
Old Business: Visitor's Information Center—Waiting for letter approval before
contacting Chamber of Commerce and others. A percent of bed
tax is used to promote local events. CLASSY bus service is going
well. Annual Report to City Council—August 27. D.Trumble will
do handouts and we will talk briefly on Visitor's Center, Character
Counts, and Street Names.
New Business: Just a reminder about City Council meeting, W. Ohare will call
absent members about date. Looking for participation for 9-11
walk and moment of remembrance at the park.
