Stewart , Tronc and Ellis-Smith ; Librarian Thomas; and Payor Davidson.

Minutes of the June meeting were read by Tronc . Stewart moved and
Hayden seconded that the minutes be approved as read . Motion carried .
Treasurer' s Report
The tills were presented by 4ayden and discussed . Manthei moved and
Stewart seconded that the bills be paid es presented . L roll call vote
showed the motion carried.
Hayden presented the financial statement w}-ich showed a total end
balance of U7,656.02 and reported that the auditor is in the process of
checkinv the books . Ellis-S-ith moved and Manthei seconded t' at the
report be accepted and fled for audit . Notion carried .

City Council Representative Small arrived at 7: 35.
Librarian' s Report
The report showed an increase of 351 in circulation over June of
SGC end the acouisition of 111, adult and 33 juvenile books . t acul7,
Ad 10 juvenile records and cassettes . The sesquicentennial quipsnow
was very well received . Mr. end Mrs . Gordon Campbell presented the
library a Singer electric typewriter. A "Happy Birthday tc Yorkville"
party was held for preschoolers . Librarian Thomas attended a farewell
recognition dinner for Dr. Earold Scholle; a board meeting to greet Dr.
Jake Broncato, the new Yorkville Superintendent of Schools ; and a BOLS
meeting on "Interlibrary Loan Procedures ." WCC will sponsor an inservice
workshop on "Basic Skills Volunteers" on August 7.
BOLS Report
Ellis-Smith reported that automation cc-ordinator L;.'man :Newton had
resigned and that a Youth Services Consultant will also e tired .
Errors and ommissions insurance policy information will he sent to rnenber
libraries. Tederal auditors will be visiting the System and r:ember
libraries who received LSCA Title I and III grants . Project Plus monthly
payments will begin in July and libraries will he billed directly by
Baker and Taylor instead of by Burr Oak starting in July . :ietir terms of
libraries or the BOLS board were drawn by lot . J';ew officers nominated
and elected were : Curtis Brandt of Bradley for President ; Mary E. Fills-
Srnitr_ of Yorkville for Vice-President ; Karen habat of New Lenox for
Secretary; and Robert Culver of Homer for Treasurer.
Committee Reports
City Council- Representative Small suggested that the dedication of
library bp held soon. Discussion followed . Trona moved and Hayden
conded that the dedication be held on September 27. Motion carried.
The planning committee will be Hayden, Ellis-Smith and Manthgi.

E second place trophy in the orgar,izat :on division . She Basked that a
thank-you letter be sent to Lavid Matlock for his help . Thanks co to

Old B-Js1 ness
Policy packets were given tc those who had not received them.
A discussion was held about the Beth Horner storytelling program and
w orkshop to be held in November. N,anthei moved and Stewart seconded
that the Yorkville Library Board donate '0.00 to the Cultural Arts
Ccrr:ittee toward one program and one workshop to be held on Saturday,
iovember E . A roll call vote snowed the motion carried.
i?ew Business
The fifth annual book sa le will be held on August R and c at
Countryside . Proceeds will be put towards the purchase of a new vacuum.
The survey taken in tr,e spring- showed the highest pe-cent of those
responding ( 20<c ) preferred the library he open additional hours on
Tuesday evenings . Ellis-Smith moved and Psyder_ seconded that the library
to open additionally on `Tuesday evenings starting in kugust and that the
Tuesday evening usage Ye evaluated after six months . motion carried .
Storage space is becoming too small and Librarian Thomas asked the
card rremters to consider more shelving or movie,-_ some materials to the
loft.
Mayor Davidson reminded the board that for insurance purposes the
value of contents needs to be upgraded by X5,000 increments when necessary .
Hayden showed examples of library letterheads b ,,ing considered.
Librarian Thomas showed an example of the "keepsake" coloring books
to be used as prizes for the summer reading program.

Hayden moved and Stewart seconded that the meeting- be adjourned.
