Library Board Minutes 1988 01-11-88January II, 1988
YORKVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD MEETING
The meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by President, Mary Ellen
Ellis. The• minutes of the last meeting were approved•as presented by motion
of Hayden. Seconded by Jahp. Motion carried.
Bown moved that the Financial Report be filed for audit. Seconded by
Olson. Motion carried unanimously. Skinner moved for payment of the bills
as presented. Seconded by Bown. Motion carried by roll call vote.
The Librarian's Report was submitted as attached. 81 adult books and
107 juvenile books were added. Mary Thomas attended the BOLAC meeting
at Bur Oak. Free library cards may be issued to residents living outside
the city limits but who own property within the city limits. This issue
referred to policy committee.
Ellis advised that no meeting for the Bur Oak Library System was held
in December.
PUBLICITY: The Dial-A-Story logo has been published in the Kendall
County Record.
PERSONNEL: Tronc moved to post Policy II-B in the library regarding
policies for groups wishing to use the library facility. Tronc also moved
to have posted a monthly work schedule for all employees beginning February I,
1988. Hayden seconded both motions. Motion carried.
Staff evaluations have begun. Mary Thomas will make recommendations
to the Board as to salary reviews.
OLD BUSINESS : Hayden made a motion to instruct Attorney Kramer to
do whatever necessary to get the carpet repaired or replaced. The Secretary
will send a letter to Attorney Kramer in that regard. Tronc seconded the motion.
Motion carried.
The Minolta reader-printer demonstration has been rescheduled for the
Ist week in March. Discussion was made as to getting additional brands
of equipment in for demonstration also.
The photocopier has been in need of service. The copier may need
to be replaced in the near future. The question arose regarding poor service.
Since service calls are included in the monthly service contract, the librarian
has been instructed by the Board to call immediately if service is needed
in the future on the photocopier.
NEW BUSINESS: The Library was closed December 15, 1987 because
of snow.
Jahp made a motion to pay Mary Thomas, Michelle Pfister and Diane
Blackman for the scheduled time they were to work that day. Seconded by
Hayden. Motion carried by roll call vote.
