A SHORTAGE IN THE BOOKS AT YORKVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY
The increasing population of the far western suburbs of
Chicago is starting to affect Yorkville. Our facility is
feeling the crunchrior to funding taking effect . At this
point in time the Library Board is concerned about closing
the financial records without having a deficit . The outlook
looks very bleak .
In the face of likely adversity, the Library Board has been
forced to take drastic measures to mitigate unreasonable
problems . They have chosen to halt the purchasing of new
books for at least the next few months . Magazine subscriptions
that have not been adopted by local merchants/business
owners and patrons will have to be cancelled, only to be
brought back via patronage through the Adopt-A-Magazine
program. The most painfull of measures has also been made
in that 2 library personnel will be used only in the case of
illness or emergency.
The library board feels that as a public organization serving
you, it is our duty to inform you that we are going through
some tough times right now and we need your support . Our
Adopt-A-Magazine program gives you the opportunity to sponser
a magazine for a year, or more if you wish. All that is
necessary is that you contact the library by phone or on your
next trip over and choose a magazine that you would like to
see or really enjoy reading and would like to share with
others . If you would like to volunteer, or have any neet
ideas for library activities, we are always ready to listen!
