Repot t of the Librarian:
Pfister noted that circulation is i.r() by almost 400 and registration i; Also
up in numbers.
The Cress Lutheran Church Secret Service grouproup vi5ited the li'br'7r"y. and
performed general pick Up and cleaning services.
Children's nook Week i5 f4ov. There wilt bp handouts and a rlesicnabookmarkcontestforthechildren,
The library put up Red Ribbon Week Posters.
Food for Fines will continue one more month. Food donations will go to the
Kendall County Food Pantry,
The City asked the library staff to decorate a tree in a contest attheRiverfrontarea. The trees will be donated to the Food Pantry for
distribution before Christmas.
Michelle has a grant for Internet connection that is to be submittedbyDecember.
The provisions of the grant specify that the Internet has to be
running by June 1st and the grant will pay half the cost, the library is
responsible for the other half, or about $1 ,400.00, This grant and our cost
would include a work station, printer, and computer. Lindblom motioned for
Michelle to submit the grant, Educate and Automate Grant Work StationandPrinterGrantProgram.
Walter seconded it and the motion was approvedbyunanimousvoicevote.
City Council Liaison: Richard Sticka said the city could provide oa,ntert;
for the interior walls when painting Is to he done, but expressed concern
about the feasibility and expense of the project.
Committee Repots:
Policy- Linda Bastyr reported that one more meeting would be
necessary to read through the revisions before submitting it to the board.
The revisions should be submitted by the first of the year.
Personnel-
Carol LaChance brought up the issue about Sunday hours.There would be about a $200.00 per month expense for personnel for );unoavhours. Also, to be on-line through Heritage Trail on Sunday, the costissharedbyalllibrariesopenandusingthesystem, There are stl i iconcernsaboutpersonnelwillingtoworkonSundays. Sunday hours is an area that
will he added to the budget under the salary line item.
Finance- Russ Walter brought up the status of the levy at ,158andthecitymayreduceitby .02. There will be a meeting 11 /12/97 at thecitytogetthefinalamount.
Old Business: The Bernard Hanson estate gift is still being planned, Thecarpetcostswouldbe $15.00 per square foot, The
shelving and carpet:n.9expenseswillbeabout $5.000 short of the gift amount. Rollins asked abuul
ways we could cover the shortage. The Community Reiat ions 7ornmitteo may
be looKing to find sources or programs to cover the extra funds needed
Those on the committee are Steinhoff, ;aebler, LaChance, and Rollins. We
could also use building maintenance money for the painting of inter ivr
walls. Michelle will get bids from Landgraff for painting quotes. f he estate
should be settled sometime in January 1998.
Walter made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Pielech seconded the motion
and it was approved by unanimous voice vote. Meeting adjcurnem at 8:40 P.M.
