The January meeting of the Yorkville Public Library Board was called
to order at 7:30 P.M. by President Mil:al Pielech. Members present were
Mikal Pielech. Russ Walter, Carol LaChance, (Gil Gaebler. Sandy Lindblom,
Linda fiastvr, Sharon Rollins. Donna figs ra, and Iris Steinhoff, Also present
were Library Director Michelle Pfister and City Council Liaison Art
Prochaska.
Recognition of Visitors; none.
Amendments to Agenda. none.
Minutes: Lindhlom motioned to approve the minutes. Gaebler
seconded the motion and the motion was approved by unanimous voice vote.
Correspondence: Kendall County Recorder. Paul Anderson needs a
list of hoard members for the Letter of Economic Interest.
Yom Cross is hosting a meeting concerning 12K concerns on 1/21 from 3-5
P.M. at Oswego High School.
Public Comment: none
Report of Treasurer: No financial statements were received fi om
the bank. They were picked up and will be included for next months
packets.
We arc changing computer service to Ken Henning, Computer Consultant
Services. for better service and more economical.
Walter motioned to pay the bills including the payroll. LaChance seconded
and the motion passed by unanimous roll call vote. Voting yes: Pielech.
Walter. LaChance, Gaebler, Lindblom, Bastyr. Rollins. Figora, and Steinhoff.
Report of the Librarian: The library was closed January 2nd due
to the snow. In the future we should also notify WSPY.
Channel 5 news came to the library to talk with Michelle and the staff
regarding Denny Hastert. the new Speaker of the House. Denny- has been a
good supporter of the library, He was the guest speaker when the present
library was dedicated. A hook. Centu,rv, is being dedicated to Denny Hastert.
Speaker of the House.
There is a need for custodial work for Saturday and Sunday, especially in
the winter. Approximate cost of $1 ,000, this being $10/hour.

A suggestion was given regarding the Sunday hours being posted on the
doors.
City Council Liaison: Yorkville may annex a piece of property that
already has Little Rock Library District coverage. We will be looking into
which library they would pay tares to.
Standing Committees: none.
Old Business: Regarding the library addition. Lindblom talked with
architects and carne up with rough figures. $125/sq. foot X 4.900 sq feet
would he $( 12,00 with no shelving or furniture. An elevator would he
40,000 in the addition part. Grant money in the amount of $250.000 might.
be available from the Secretary of States office but must have the plans and
the money would he later. Architects fees might be - t0 ; of the cost. We
will need to look at the budget and check other libraries, new trends, and
find what. is specifically included in the square foot dollar amount.
New Business: none.
LaChance made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Itastyr seconded and
the meeting adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
