Library Board Minutes 1999 08-09-99Meeting of the Yorkville Public Library Board
August 9,1 999 7:30p.m.
The August nmceting was called to order by Linda Bastyr at 7:30 p.m. Members present
were Mikal Pielech, Gail Gaebler, Russ Walter, Donna Figora, Sandy i.indblom, and
Sharon Rollins. Also present were Director Michelle Pfister and City Council Liaison
Richard Sticka. Members absent were: Carol LaChance and Iris Steinhoff
Recognition of visitors: Robert Allen, city treasurer, came to share information
regarding the city's investment policy. 11e will research options for investing a portion of
our money. 11e asked for input on investing library funds fort more than one year.
Amendments to Agenda: Under new business will be: Discussion of holding periods for
newspapers.
Minutes: Russ Walter moved to accept the minutes as printed. Figora seconded. Motion
passed by unanimous voice vote.
Correspondence: No new correspondence,
Public comment: None
Report of the Treasurer: Walter informed the board to get information under the
current period only after the checks are printed.Walter indicated two corrections in the
budget.
165 should be $790 and $624 should be 0, under library subscriptions. The payroll
reports from June and July are missing. Pfister informed Walter, Patti Bradstreet would
like to change from full-time to part-time, 16 hours per week beginning in September.
Pfister will hire a new full-time person to replace her at the rate of$9.00 per hour,
Refrigeration Unlimited replaced our air conditioner after the second time it broke down.
Walter moved to pay all the bills, except $26.77 to Ameritech. There will be a new check
to Ameritech and a new check for fund transfer amount, Motion seconded by Pielcch.
Motion unanimously passed by roll call vote. Voting yes were Pielcch, Gaebler, Walter,
Figora, Lindblom, Bastyr, and Rollins,
Report of the librarian: Last fiscal year there were 1,941 patrons participating in the
children's programs. Michelle is going to the local schools to hand out Tlomework'Fips
for Teachers. There will be an article in the Kendall County Record about the Riverfront
Festival activities provided by the library. The recent adult program went. well with 22
participants. Over 300 gift bags were given out to children participating in theSummerReadingProgram.
