Report of the Treasurer-Walters inquired about funds from the city for
1998 tax dollars. Also, the city reimbursed the library for Kemper funds for
an employee . There is some confusion about a Social Security deduction of
232.65 and further clarification is needed. Walters made a motion to pay
the bills and payroll. LaChance seconded the motion and the motion was
passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Report of the Librarian-Dir. Pfister noted that circulation and registration
for the past month was up. The computer catalog is up and running for
patron use. The Geneaology Club would like to meet in the loft for their
monthly meetings. There is no problem with that as long as they do not
collect any money. April is National Library Month and the library will be
hosting a guest storyteller, Pastor Boorsma from the Congregational Church.
Pfister also voiced a concern over the parking situation. The library lot
becomes overflow parking for city business.
Standing Committees-Policy-The price of Heritage Trail Summer Family
Library cards was added to the policy manuals.
Personnel-Gail Gaebler reported that the committee
met to discuss personnel evaluations. Next month's meeting will include an
Executive session to discuss the Library Director's evaluation.
Old Business-Library addition-Dir. Pfister read a list of questions Board
Member Gruber had regarding the library addition. Lindblom asked what the
next step would be in the process of the library addition. At our next meeting
Board Members should bring ideas to put in a letter to Speaker Hastert.
New Business-Mayor Prochaska wanted Board Members to know that the
City would be hosting an Open House on April 30,2000 for the public to
view the new city offices_ On March 25th all board members from all city
boards are invited to a meeting with City Council members.
