Library Board Minutes 2000 12-18-00Yorkville Public Library Board Meeting December 18,2000 7:30 P.M. Iris Steinhoff called the Dedember meeting to order at 7:30 P.M. Members present: Iris Steinhoff, Sandy Lindblom, Russ Walter, Kelly Murray, Joseph Gruber, and Carol LaChance. Members not present: Donna Figora, Gail Gaebler, and Sharon Rollins. Director Michelle Pfister was also in attendance. Recognition of Visitors: none Amendments to Agenda: none Minutes: Joseph Gruber moved to approve the minutes. Sandy Lindblom seconded the motion. Correspondence: none Public Comment: none Report of Treasurer: The errors in the October, 2000 budget report were corrected. The Tax Levy Request for the City of Yorkville (11/16/00) proposed that the library receive$188,865. This figure is $11,296 higher that the current amount. Russ Walter moved to approve the bill list, including payroll, which amounted to 13,398.05. Carol LaChance seconded the motion. All members present voted yes. Report of the Librarian: Michelle Pfister reported increased circulation. One hundred and ninety two new items were purchased. Sandy Soderquist, the new Executive Director of the Heritage Trail Library System, visited the library. The Tuesday with Seniors program was cancelled because of lack of participation. In addition to the regular programs and activities, 80 Small World Preschool students visited the library, 30 patrons participated in the Mom and Me Thanksgiving Craft, and 22 patrons attended the Toddler Tales story time. An accident report was filed after a patron injured her hand in the automatic door while exiting the library. Food items collected in lieu of overdue fines were donated to the food pantry. The staff enjoyed their Christmas party at Lorenzo's. Five donations were made to the library: $25 from Opal Anderson, $25 in memory of Debora Ulrich from Linda Bastyr, $25 for Katie Bastyr from her family, $25 in memory of Debora Ulrich from the Rollins family, and $50 from Small World Preschool in recognition of Children's Rook Week. It was noted that the current non-resident library card fee is $80 for a card that can be used locally and $216 for a system card that can be used at any library in the Heritage Trail Library System. It was proposed that the Library Board discuss whether or not these amounts should be raised. City Council Liaison/Human Resource: none Standing Committees: none Old Business: The City Treasurer, Robert Allen, contacted Joseph Gruber and expressed concern about the library borrowing money for a library addition. The Library Board decided to speak with a library consultant regarding the building expansion project. New Business: none Adjournment: Russ Walter moved to adjourn the meeting at 8:20 P.M.
