Library Board Minutes 2001 06-11-01Yorkville Public Library Board Meeting
June 11, 2001
7:30 P.M.
Sandy Lindblom called the June meeting to order at 7:34 P.M. Members present: Sandy
Lindblom, Russ Walter, Kelly Murray, Joseph Gruber, and Carol LaChance. Members
not present: Donna Figora, Gail Gaebler, Sharon Rollins, and Iris Steinhoff. Director
Michelle Pfister and City Council Liaison Richard Sticka were also in attendance.
Recognition of Visitors: none
Amendments to the Agenda: none
Minutes: Joseph Gruber moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Russ Walter
seconded the motion. All members present voted yes.
Correspondence: The Damato family published a letter of thanks to the library in the
Kendall County Record.
Public Comment: none
Report of Treasurer: Richard Sticka was told about the discrepancy between the
library's budget and the pre-audit report prepared by Kim King.
Russ Walter moved to approve the bill list, including payroll, for the amount shown
41,6216.01). Carol LaChance seconded the motion. All present voted yes when a roll
call vote was taken.
Report of Librarian; Circulation was up by 246. 154 books were added to the
collection.
As of today, there are 210 children participating in the Summer Reading Program. The
picnic in the park will be held on July 2, 2001. Sixty three children attended the birthday
party for Arthur. The Girl Scouts volunteered their time to help clean the library.
Michelle Pfister attended the Library Construction Workshop. She noted that it was very
similar to the one that she attended last year. Richard E. Thompson was recommended as
a building consultant.
The Per Capita Grant is finished and will be sent out on June 12.
The American Legion donated $100 to go toward the purchase of WWII books. The
Yorkville Grade School PTO donated a Dollhouse Miniatures magazine subscription to
the library in honor of Joan Knutson.

The library purchased Austria in recognition of Iris Steinhoff s years of service on the
library board.
The mayor appointed two new board members, Marilyn Vorderer and Jo Ann Gryder.
City Council Liaison/Human Resource: none
Standing Committees: All board members attended the Community Meeting held on
May 15.
Old Business: Joseph Gruber revisited the idea of the library going district in order to
broaden the tax base. It was determined that the money brought in would not be
significant enough to justify the loss of city support (insurance, maintenance, mowing,
plowing, etc.).
The Yorkville Public Library Bylaws, Policies, and Guidelines handbook was updated.
A code of ethics was added, the Heritage Trail system card was changed, and the revision
date was changed.
New Business: Nominations were taken for new officers.
President: Carol LaChance nominated Joseph Gruber. Russ Walter moved to close the
nominations for president. Carol LaChance seconded the motion.
Vice President: Kelly Murray nominated Gail Gaebler. Joseph Gruber nominated Sandy
Lindblom. Russ Walter moved to close the nominations for vice president. Carol
LaChance seconded the motion.
Secretary: Joseph Gruber nominated Kelly Murray. Russ Walter moved to close the
nominations for secretary. Carol LaChance seconded the motion.
Treasurer: Russ Walter was nominated. Carol LaChance moved to close the
nominations. Russ Walter seconded the motion.
Next month the board will look at the Disaster Plan.
