Library Board Minutes 2001 12-10-01Yorkville Public Library Board Meeting December 10, 2001 7:30 P.M. Joseph Gruber called the November meeting to order at 7:35 P.M. Members present: Joseph Gruber, Russ Walter, Kelly Murray, Sandy Lindblom, Marianne Wilkinson_ and Marilyn Vorderer. Members not present: Gail Gaebler, JoAnn Gryder, and Carol LaChance. City Council Liaison Richard Sticka was in attendance. Recognition of Visitors: Mayor Art Prochaska Amendments to the Agenda: none Minutes: Sandy Lindblom moved to approve the minutes as corrected. Marianne Wilkinson seconded the motion. All members present voted yes. Correspondence: Dwayne and Kay Coltman thanked the library for purchasing a book about September 11 in honor of their son. Public Comment: none Report of Treasurer: Richard Thompson was paid $3137.11 for composing the building program. Russ Walter moved to approve the bill list, including payroll, which amounted to $22,601.67. Marilyn Vorderer seconded the motion. A role call vote was taken. All members present voted yes. The library receives $150 for each building permit issued in Yorkville. Fifty percent of the money is spent on books and fifty percent of the money is saved in the building fund. 150 building permits were issued this past year. The library was within $1000 of its proposed budget for 2001. There is a balance of 33,367 that will carry over to 2001/2002. (There was a balance of $28,840 that had carried over from 1999/2000.) There was a 4%increase in the salary portion of the budget for 2001/2002. There was a 40%increase in the building expansion portion of the budget for 2001/2002. It was proposed that the Development Fee portion of the budget be changed in order to more closely reflect actual figures. $7,500 for books and $7,500 for building was suggested. It was proposed that the building portion of Development Fees be reflected in expenses. A final vote on this issue was tabled until the January meeting. Report of Librarian: Circulation is up. The Teen Advisory Group is doing well. The library received a letter from Secretary of State Jessie White regarding the PerCapitaGrant. The library will receive $7,250.79 for the year 2002. The Per Capita Grant represents a $1.17 per person payment for the library_ City Council Liaison/Human Resource: none Standing Committees: none. Old Business: All board members are asked to review the building program. All corrections and revisions will be submitted to Richard Thompson, thebuildingconsultant, who will then complete the corrected first draft. Thompson recommends speaking with a financial consultant about a "total cost figure." An architect will be able to give a cost per square foot figure. New Business: The Ti system was installed Friday. The city will have a new finance director as of January 3, 2002.
