Library Board Minutes 2002 07-08-02Yorkville Public Library Board Meeting July 8, 2002 7:30 P.M. Members present: Joseph Gruber, Russ Walter, Kelly Murray, Carol LaChance, SandyLindblom, Marilyn Vorderer, and Marianne Wilkinson. Members not present: Gail Gaebler and Jo Ann Gryder. Director Michelle Pfister and City Council LiaisonRichardStickawerealsoinattendance. Recognition of Visitors: none Amendments to the Agenda: none Minutes: Sandy Lindblom moved to approve the minutes as written. Marianne Wilkinson seconded the motion. The motion carried. Correspondence: The library received a letter from Alan Armbrust regardinghisinterview. Richard McCarthy called the library regarding his interview. Public Comment: none Report of Treasurer: Russ Walter moved to approve the bill list, including payroll,which amounted to 515,561.92. Carol LaChance seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. The motion carried unanimously. Several budget changes were made. The ending balance was adjusted and distributed. The library per capita grant line item was increased to reflect what was received last year. The development fees interest was added to the building expansion fund and tothegeneralfund. Joseph Gruber moved to approve the revised 2002-2003 budget. RussWaltersecondedthemotion. A roll call vote was taken. The motioncarriedunanimously. Report of Librarian: Over 300 children are participating in the reading programthissummer. 5,233 items were checked out this month, which is an increase of 372 overthefigurereportedlastyear. 294 items were added to the collection. Jackie LaChance, theFriends, and Elizabeth Murray volunteered this month. Michelle Pfister attended an automation workshop at Plano Library in order to learnthenewsystem. The state statutes regarding non-resident library cards were reviewed. Sandy Lindblom moved to approve the purchase of a computer for the children'slibrarianfortheamountof$1,527.90. Marilyn Vorderer seconded the motion. Arollcallvotewastaken. The motion carried unanimously. The annual report is represented in a flyer entitled Yorkville Library Facts and Figures.Didyou Know...? FYI. This will be distributed at Hometown Days. City Council Liaison/Human Resource: Alan Armbrust attempted to contactRichardSticka. Committee Reports: none Old Business: First impressions of the architects were discussed based on the June 29,2002 interviews. A vote will be taken next month. Marilyn Vorderer visitedAlanArmbrust's library in Harvard. Their librarians spoke very positively of Armbrustandhiswork. Michelle will direct any questions regarding the interviewing andhiringproceduretoCityAttorneyDanKramer. Richard Sticka suggested that theBuildingDepartmentandtheCityEngineermightbeofhelp. New Business: Carol LaChance was nominated for vice-president and withdrewhername. Sandy Lindblom moved to accept the slate of officers as presented and electthembyacclamation. The motion was seconded. The motion carried unanimously. Thenewofficersare: President Joseph Gruber, Vice-President Jo Ann Gryder, TreasurerRussWalter, and Secretary Kelly Murray. Michelle will update the signature cards at the bank. The library's inventory has been updated for accident and insurance purposes. Adjournment: The meeting adjourned at 9:02 pm.
