Library Board Minutes 2002 10-14-02Yorkville Public Library Board Meeting October 14, 2002 7:30 P.M. Members present: Joseph Gruber, Jo Ann Gryder, Russ Walter, Kelly Murray, Gail Gaebler, Carol LaChance, Sandy Lindblom, Marianne Wilkinson, and Marilyn Vorderer. Members not present: none. Director Michelle Pfister was also in attendance. Recognition of Visitors: none Amendments to the Agenda: none Minutes: Sandy Lindblom moved to approve the minutes as written. Russ Walter seconded the motion. The motion carried. Correspondence: none Public Comment: none Report of Treasurer: Russ Walter moved to approve the bill list, including payroll, which amounted to $20,764.05. Gail Gaebler seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. The motion carried unanimously. Report of Librarian: Circulation was up by 1,520. 374 items were added to the collection this month. Several DVD's were purchased. The HTLS, HTLS Catalogue, Books for Kids K-12, and ILA conferences were attended. The Yorkville Junior Women's Club donated The New York Times A Nation Challenged. Memorials were donated in memory of Jackie Follmer. December 7, 2002 is a possible date for Coffee with the Mayor at the library. Russ Walter moved to approve the purchase of new library cards (2000) for the amount of$1,809.79. Jo Ann (nyder seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. The motion carried unanimously. Third grade classrooms will decorate bookmarks to be distributed at the library. This is in celebration of Children's Book Week. Rita Feltes is promoting Families Read Together, a book club for children in sixth grade and up. City Council Liaison/Human Resource: none Committee Reports: none Old Business: Joseph Gruber and Michelle Pfister met with the architect (McCarthy) to discuss the Abbreviated Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Architect. The City lawyer was given a draft of this agreement to review. McCarthy estimates six million to complete the total project outlined in Richard Thompson's building plan. 400,000 of this amount would be the architectural fees for the total project. The Abbreviated Standard Form of Agreement Between Owner and Architect requires a payment of $52,563 for initial site analysis and design. The Board looked through the contract. Gail Gaebler moved that Joseph Gruber be empowered to sign the agreement after the lawyer has approved it. Marilyn Vorderer seconded the motion. A roll call vote was taken. The motion carried unanimously. McCarthy plans to attend the City Council Meeting in December. New Business: The policy for electronically recording all public meetings was discussed.
