Library Board Minutes 2002 11-18-02Yorkville Puhlic Library Board Meeting
November 18,2002
7:30 P.M.
Members present:
Joseph Gruber, Russ Walter, Kelly Murray, Jo Ann Gryder, SandyLindblom, Marianne Wilkinson, and Marilyn Vorderer. Members not present: GailGaeblerandCarolLaChance. Director Michelle Pfister, City Council LiaisonRichardSticka, and Mayor Art Prochaska were also in attendance.

Amendments to the Agenda: none
Minutes: Jo Ann Gryder moved to approve the minutes as written. SandyLindblomsecondedthemotion. The motion carried.
Correspondence: The library received a letter from the city attorney, Dan Kramer,
regarding the contract with the architect. The City recommended minor changes
regarding the arbitration provision and the resolution of disputes the City andthearchitect. He also explained that the City should execute the contract as well as the
Library Board because the financing for the project will involve the City.
A letter was written to Rita Feltes from the Yorkville Grade School principalthankingherforthevisitsthatshemadetotheschool.
A letter of thanks was written from the Halsey family. They received books for theirnewbabyandthebigsister.
Public Comment: none
Report of Treasurer: Russ Walter moved to approve the bill list, including payroll,which amounted to $20,939.14. Sandy Lindblom seconded the motion. A roll call vote
was taken. The motion carried unanimously. It was noted that there is nearly $100,000inthebuildingfund.
Report of Librarian: Circulation was up 790. 290 items were added to thecollectionthismonth,
A HTLS conference entitled Planning for Results, Managing for Results, and WiredforResultswasattended. A Sirsi training workshop was attended. Joseph Gruber movedtoapprovethatthelibrarycloseonJanuary16forstafftraining. Jo Ann Gryder seconded
the motion. The motion carried unanimously.
A $50 memorial was donated for Jackie Follmer from Robert and Shirley Yuill. A $150
memorial was donated for Roy Jacobson from Dr. and Mrs. Gruber. A $20 Memorial
c
was donated for Shirley 'Yuill from Dale and La Donna Tweedy. The sign outsidethelibrary, donated as a Boy Scout service project, is completed.
Artlip's and Sons has been contracted to service the library's heating and airconditioningsystems.
The library will host Coffee with the Mayor on December 7, 2002.
The library has applied for Marshall Cavendish's grant called Rock-N-Read ($5000).
City Council Liaison/Human Resource: A corrected proposed tax levy will beviewedbytheCityCouncilonNovember19.
The City Council will review the revised architect contract on November 19. TheywillvoteonwhetherornottoexecutethecontractonNovember26.

Old Business:
Richard McCarthy, the architect, plans to do a presentation for theCityCouncilinDecember.
New Business:
Russ Walter moved to approve the tax levy prepared by Tony Grafffortheamountof$257,126. Marilyn Vorderer seconded the motion. A roll call votewastaken. The motion carried unanimously.
