Thompson Center 100 W. Randolph, 16-100 Chicago, IL 60601 Dear Governor Pritzker: We appreciate your efforts to reopen Illinois, and we will do everything we can to assist in safely restarting the regional economy, of which Yorkville and Kendall County has been a leader of for many years. We have seen a few different plans and requests by others in the state to break up the four regions of your plan into 11 smaller regions. We agree with the concept of small regions, and would ask that you would consider a plan that brings all of Kendall County into a region that is more alike to our agricultural-based County. In a separate correspondence, we have sent a reopening process memo from Yorkville based Raging Waves, Illinois’s Largest Waterpark. While Raging Waves is one of our City’s largest employers, they are a family owned business and operate with the personal touch of a small business. Raging Waves and our other, more traditional, small businesses are ready to implement extensive safety guidelines, cleaning procedures, and social distancing measures in their businesses in the same way that large businesses have been allowed to safely operate for the past few weeks. Along these same lines, we have heard from the owners and employees of Yorkville’s restaurant and bar industry, and they are eager to find ways to safely operate and provide for their families again. We understand that Phase III and Phase IV of your Restore Illinois plan will provide some additional relief to small businesses, and bars and restaurants. We look forward to those transition dates. Until then, we ask that you consider all ideas and options to provide the same opportunities to small businesses as you have for large businesses, and to provide opportunities for our dining and hospitality industry to open as soon as safely possible. I appreciate your consideration of our requests. We are willing to remotely meet, discuss, and plan with you and your staff to solve this issue for the region. Please contact me at jpurcell@yorkville.il.us or 630-553-4350 if you wish to discuss this further. Sincerely, John Purcell, Mayor United City of Yorkville United City of Yorkville 800 Game Farm Road Yorkville, Illinois 60560 Telephone: 630-553-4350 www.yorkville.il.us
