Resolution 2023-12Resolution No. 2023-12 A RESOLUTION APPROVING CHANGE ORDERS RELATING TO 651 PRAIRIE POINTE DRIVE, YORKVILLE, ILLINOIS (Twelfth Set of Change Orders) WHEREAS, the United City of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois (the "City") is a duly organized and validly existing non -home rule municipality created in accordance with the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970 and the laws of the State; and, WHEREAS, the City has acquired the building and property commonly known as 651 Prairie Pointe Drive (the "New City Hall") for the purpose of rehabilitating the building and repurposing it as the new Yorkville City Hall and the headquarters of the Yorkville Police Department (the "Project"); and, WHEREAS, the City issued a Request for Proposals to construct the Project and after review and evaluation of submittals from several firms, the City entered into a contract with Lite Construction of Montgomery, Illinois (the "Contract"); and, WHEREAS, the Contract, as approved by the City with Lite Construction, provided a line item for unforeseen contingencies due to the fact that the New City Hall was constructed in 2007 and change orders were guaranteed to come as demolition of existing walls and ceilings occurred; and, WHEREAS, Lite Construction has submitted two (2) change orders to the original Contract, as itemized on the list attached hereto, modifications to the original work design as mandated to conform to current code standards resulting in an additional costs totaling $13,465; and, WHEREAS, the City has reviewed the change orders as submitted by Lite Construction and acknowledges that the work covered by these change orders was unforeseen but is necessary Resolution No. 2023-12 Page 1 and in the best interest of the City; therefore, the City is prepared to approve the Change Order as hereinafter provided. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and City Council of the United City of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois, as follows: 1. Section 1. The foregoing preambles are hereby adopted as if fully restated in this Section Section 2. That the change orders as itemized on the list attached hereto as submitted by Lite Construction resulting in total additional costs of $13,465 are hereby approved. Section 3. That this Resolution shall be in full force and effect upon its passage and approval as provided by law.
