The meeting was called to order at 6:00pm by Chairman Dan Transier.

Minutes for Correction/Approval: March 7, 2024
The minutes were approved as presented.
New Business:
Chief Jensen asked to switch agenda items #3 and #4.
1. PS 2024-08 Monthly Report Review for February and March 2024
Police Chief Jensen reported on overtime hours, police officer testing, Records Clerk
positions, blood drive, Polar Plunge and training hours. He also discussed crash
statistics, directed patrols, citations/warnings and criminal cases. He said they are
conducting many background checks for Parks and Recreation. The calls for service
were up, but mental health calls decreased for both months.
Alderman Soling asked if the background checks are charged to the PD or Parks & Rec.
If a subject is fingerprinted, Parks & Rec are charged.
2. PS 2024-09 Adjudication Reports for March and April 2024
Two adjudications per month are now held instead of each week, noted Chief Jensen. He
briefly reported on the cases brought to the Hearings.

4. PS 2024-11 Information Center Update – Discussion (out of sequence)
Deputy Chief Carlyle asked the committee and other meeting participants to join him in
the Information Center on the second floor of city hall for a demonstration of the center
capabilities for police investigations. Chief Jensen gave a brief overview of the center
and said the funds for it were donated anonymously. He said Deputy Chief Carlyle has
been coordinating with the other 4 other departments who use it: Plano, Montgomery,
Kendall County Sheriff and Oswego. He gave a demonstration of the technology and the
information that can be obtained in conjunction with information from cell phones and
social media. Chief Jensen said eventually he would like to have a full-time person in
this center.
3. PS 2024-10 VirTra System Update - Discussion (out of sequence)
For this agenda item, Chief Jensen said the committee would move to the courthouse.
Prior to leaving for the courthouse, the committee briefly moved back to the conference
room. Chairman Transier announced that the meeting would close at this time and move
to the courthouse where Executive Session would be entered into. He stated that no votes
or action would be taken following the close of Executive Session.

official adjournment to follow the Executive Session.
