HomeMy WebLinkAboutResolution 2026-024 Resolution No. 2026-24 A RESOLUTION OF THE UNITED CITY OF YORKVILLE, KENDALL COUNTY, ILLINOIS, DECLARING CERTAIN PROPERTY SURPLUS AND DIRECTING DISPOSITION OF SAME WHEREAS, the United City of Yorkville (the "City") is a duly organized and validly existing non home-rule municipality created in accordance with the Constitution of the State of Illinois of 1970 and the laws of the State; and WHEREAS,the Illinois Municipal Code authorizes the City to sell any personal property that is no longer necessary or useful to the City (65 ILCS 5/11-76-4); and WHEREAS, the United City of Yorkville Public Works Department (the "Public Works Department") purchases rock salt for the purpose of treating roads during icy conditions; and WHEREAS, the City currently has 813.10 (eight hundred thirteen and one-tenth) tons of unneeded excess rock salt in storage(the "Excess Salt"); and WHEREAS, certain other units of local government desire to purchase the Excess Salt at a cost of$71.25 per ton; and WHEREAS, the Public Works Department does not anticipate a need for the Excess Salt, and recommends the City sell the Excess Salt to the other units of local government, as identified and in the amounts indicated in this Resolution; and WHEREAS, the City has determined that it is in the best interest of the City and its residents to declare 813.10 (eight hundred thirteen and one-tenth) tons of rock salt surplus and authorize the sale of said surplus rock salt as recommended by the Public Works Department. NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and the City Council of the United City of Yorkville, Kendall County, Illinois, as follows: Section 1. The recitals set forth above are incorporated into this Resolution as if fully restated herein. Resolution No. 2026-24 Page 1 Section 2.The Mayor and City Council of the United City of Yorkville find and determine that the City's 813.10 (eight hundred thirteen and one-tenth) tons of excess rock salt be declared surplus and no longer needed for municipal purposes, and further authorize and direct the disposal of same as follows: Unit of Local Government(purchaser) Amount of salt Price per ton Total owed to purchased purchased City Kendall County 50 tons $71.25 $3,562.50 Bristol Township 100 tons $71.25 $7,125.00 Kendall Township 100 tons $71.25 $7,125.00 Lisbon Township 163.10 tons $71.25 $11,620.88 Little Rock Township 100 tons $71.25 $7,125.00 Na-Au-Say Township 100 tons $71.25 $7,125.00 Oswego Township 100 tons $71.25 $7,125.00 Seward Township 100 tons $71.25 $7,125.00 TOTALS: 813.10 tons $71.25 $92,933.38 Section 3.
